Seems like I'm a little late to this discussion group but I was a little late to be diagnosed with MS, to feel inclined to have joined Daily Strength in the first place! Regardless- I hope the members of this Pet Lover group may reach out and give me some thoughts. I am a non profit president of a pending 501c3 dedicated to rescuing and retraining canines for people with therapy needs. As someone with a recent MS diagnosis, disability requirements for a canine seem to be more straight forward than some present regulations! however I believe the concept of a therapy canine (or pet) seems a much more fluid job description.
I would love some feedback and suggestions as I move forward with my mission- to reconnect man with his 'best friend', utilizing programs that drive community development in the social, economic and political spheres of our community and it's canines.
So the big question I pose for discussion is : do you believe in a therapy pet and/or what would be a desired need(s) of a therapy pet? If I could give you a trained Siberian Husky to act as your forever friend and therapy dog- what outcomes would you wish this dog to have.? All feedback appreciated. All the best- and good luck with whatever ailment faces you today. Today- we have strength.

My 5 year old came forward on March 5th That another child in his class was reaching into his pants under his underwear and touching his penis each time he was in this class. I was in an abusive relationship for 17 years it's the only relationship I've ever even been in so what I thought of as love im now finding out wasn't love at all and that sucks my dad says things like I just need to let it go and it's insulting frankly. I let it go for 17 years just because I'm no longer being abused doesn't mean the pain and anger are gone. I refuse to let it go when I was...
She is now Cancer Free, but she saw those dogs every day of her Chemo.
My FIL had prostate Cancer and before he passed the dogs came in every day to see him when he was in Palative Care! They came to see him the day he passed too.
These two dogs have a good life at home, from what I understand.
I also know of a dog who isn't trained but he works with an Epileptic person as a companion dog, knows when the seizures come on and makes that person sit down.
There are arrangements made for the last dog, if his person does pass but so far things are good.
I do wish that my Husband's Aunt who had MS would have had a dog like that but her MS was so bad. And at the time therapy dogs weren't available for her. That was many moons ago.
