I haven't been out here for so loooooonnnnngggg. BUT, we adopted a new puppy a few months ago. Oliver; he's a hound/doberman mix. He's adorable! We haven't had a puppy in the house in 20 years so the adjustment of puppy proofing the house was a real eye opener. You forget just how much they get in to. He's chewed everything from cook books to baseball caps. Including the toilet paper in the bathrooms. I've spent hundreds of dollars on toys and they're all destroyed! I've bought the "though toys" that are supposed to last. ppppffffffffffffffffffff, they're gone in a day! We're into the heavy training stage now.. I can't let him in the vegetable garden as the tomatoes are treated the same way he treats the balls; chewed to smithereens!
I'm hoping the chewing stage doesn't last much longer. He's a lot of fun and very cuddly. Loves to cuddle. He was supposed to be of a weight between 35-40 lbs. He's seven months now and weighs 41 lbs. I think we got a big one. I can't believe how much fuller our lives are now with a dog in the house again. What a great feeling it is to come home to his greetings...
Lot's of fun times ahead. Can't wait to get the tree up this year and have all my ornaments shredded...

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....
My boys just turned 7 months. They are about 57 & 59lbs. Just love them!
my shredder is about 9 or ten years old and just last night I had to put him in the bedroom/living room so I could get outside with the weed whacker as Shep does not like it and bites towards it so since it could really rip his face if he got too close I have to close them in.....he shredded the pillowcase on one pillow that is their pillow on my bed...it has not stopped....I lock them into kitchen with the doggie door outside in mud room there when I leave to protect the things he would shred....separation anxiety is what is wrong with him.....when he is separated from me he feels he needs to shred stuff..... uggghhh ;0(
Bill, I haven't talked to you in years now. It's been a long time. Glad to see Shep is still going strong. I had a good laugh at the pillow because I've gone through the same thing. Puppy nightmares they are! And yes, he's kennel trained but only for night time when we go to bed. I don't use it otherwise. We have him in a puppy dog camp 3 days a week and he's there all day. The other days my mother watches him since she's in the house already. He's naughty when we leave him alone such as when I leave the room for "anything" he's immediately after something. He's not as bad as when we first brought him home but the (chewing), aggghhhhhhh. I can't count the toys destroyed, towels, scatter rugs etc. He's penned off in the kitchen with dog gates. Sometimes he gets through when the grand kids are over and someone forgets to shut the gates.
Simpson, I never had a dog prior to this that did this much damage. He's not after the wires anymore or cookbooks. Just rugs, toilet paper, towels; well anything left in his reach.. Puppy nightmare; I wasn't kidding... Even ate my husband's favorite golf hat. Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
