I just wrote a message to one of my friends. I pressed the button to send it and got a message to "try again later" Luckily it was not a long message(I'll have to keep them short in the future) But why did it get swallowed up like that with a message in all caps stating by implication that it was impossible to send my message to the intended reciever? Should I consider writing messages to friends an activity at my own risk?
When it comes to computers in general, just about everything is 'at my own risk'. What you describe is a rare occurrence.

2. You can install the LAZARUS add-on which will prevent such a loss ... as long as you use a (common) browser OTHER THAN INTERNET EXPLORER:
