It sucks trying to upload photos here because DS is still in the dark ages with size and photo quality.
The only photos I have on my profile had to be cut in half to be under the maximum file allowed by DS!
I have heard many complaints from others about this as well.
I wish DS would change this because sharing photos is an excellent way to get and to give support!

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...
DS proportionately reduces the greatest dimension (height/width) to 600 pixels. It does it automatically ... you don't have to 'worry' about it. The largest photo album picture DS will 'hold' is 600x600.
Uploading pictures is more concerned with FILE SIZE than FRAME size. What you must do is not exceed 1.5MB in FILE SIZE.
You can have a picture FRAME SIZE of 1024x768 (for example) and the size of the file for that picture can be 3MB. DS will not accept it .. the file size is too big.
You can maintain 1024x768 FRAME SIZE and reduce the RESOLUTION of the file and attain a smaller FILE SIZE .. the quality of the picture will be reduced .. the size of the file will be reduced, but the frame size can remain ... but then .. of course, DS comes along and reduces THAT (proportionately) to 600 (x 600).
If you want to be certain your picture will upload .. make sure it does not exceed 600 pixels in either height or width. If it does, DS is going to reduce it for you anyway. If you meet the size factor before uploading, this will PROBABLY save as a file WAY under 1.5MB. Always save a resized picture with a different name from the original .. or you will lose the original by overwriting it.
Do this .. and you should not have any problems uploading pictures to your photo album ... unless you have 100 photos in your album ... max allowed = 100.
