You can check to see if someone is "online now" if they're a member of the group that they're posting to. Just go up to the blue bar with green writing. Look for "Members" 3rd to the far right. Click on that, then on the "online now" tab.
Remember that many more people read posts than reply, or are brave enough to post their own threads. The time you put into a reply can be of value to those people too.
We all have different points of view. The more replies the more of those viewpoints can get represented...
Just my take on it,
Patti
When I was new here I use to hear from a very troubled young lady most daily. Then one day she was not replying at all. I was sooooo worried about her. I never even thought about going to see if an account was closed. I found out from her later that her account wasn't closed but she had been banned for a while. Then she would come on under a different name. After a while I just stopped following her.
I do know how much it means to those who write and journal and would love a reply.....even if it is short and sweet.
That is a very good take on it, Patti.
I would say you wouldn't be wasting your time and energy, only if you only wish to speak with the person whose account is closed to the exclusion of all others.
Just a different way of looking at it.
At least that happened to me when I closed my first account for a few months in 2011 then when I decided to rejoin, I had to come back with a new name and no history from before.
WV, correct me if I ahave misrepresented anything.. Thanks
DS's business model consists PRIMARILY in the groups and the PUBLIC dialogues that are posted. To remove all that material would impact the basic 'product .. so to speak.
Rather than REMOVE the material, DS could 'flag' the Avatar of all closed accounts ... so you could see if the author (or respondent for that matter) is no longer on DS. However, there may be good reason for DS to NOT do that either ... though I would not know what it is.
