I have on more than one occasion been asked to be friends with individuals who are not on this site for any type of support. All have been foreign(you can tell by how and what they say). Never have the profiles of these individuals been complete. I generally ignore but I feel that this is a problem on ds that should be addressed.

It's hard to take a pro-active stand with trolls like the ones you are describing. About the only way to deal with them for now is to put them on ignore or report them if you feel they are bahaving inappropriately.

I know DS is trying with the "Newbie limitations" that kick in when you first sign up. Limits on hugs and PMs and your account becomes locked if you meet those criteria.

But as far as preemptively weeding them out? That's a tough one.

Yes! I had a few [though I didn't pay attention or not if they were foreighn] that seemed to be using DS as another myspace. Their profiles were nearly empty, and they put up nasty pics of their bodies and junk [like on myspace] ewww >.

Well I guess I am lucky I didn't see any body parts(lol). They are so funny to me one can tell they are attempting to communicate in a language that is not familar to them.

I totally understand this too....trolls stink!!!!
But I recall when I was new here. I was in a horribly bad place. I got temporarily banned from this site because I was talking to much I supposed hehehehe. I had to send an email to Doug to get unblocked...do you have any idea though what it's like when you are alone and desperate and here you are BLOCKED FROM A SUPPORT SITE???? I remember at the time thinking, gee good thing I am not feeling suicidal today!
I know there has to be limits because of trolling...but we must make sure that the whole vision Doug had when he founded DS isn't lost along the way.

Sounds like a spammer. We've had several who make the rounds, give you an email address, send a standard "i like your profile" private message. I think these people should be grouped with the trolls to get them off of here faster.

I dont accept anyone's friend request unless we talk or have a group association in common...hence the cleaning out recently....still working it. Especially when they don't have a profile I question it. I believe this is just one of those things you just gotta ignore their request. The funny ones are when they message you and tell you how they saw your profile and want to get to know you and that they are from another country lol
