I do not like Meebo at all.

Me ---- a thousand times over.

I have deactivated it with Firefox/Flock and NoScript.

One reason I like those two browsers.

I dont remember the old video so i cant comment on that, I have an old computer so sometimes when someone tries to message me on meebo it freezes the computer so i just sign off of chat every time i go on.

why do people not like it, what is the draw back from it?

chat window not moveable. no group chat. no video. no file sharing. no convenient way (option) to show it or not show it. Shows people online in MEEBO but not online on DS or vice versa. Popups on left end of bar cover the page.

I use www.chatzy.com if I need to chat.

no voice chat. Chatzy doesn't have ALL that either, but has SOME of it.

Have never used the audio/video but would LOVE to!

I don't like how intrusive it is. I wouldn;t mind if we could switch it off and only those like kidatheart who like it could enjoy it, but that stupid bar with the ads won't go away and it logs me on automatically when I don't want to chat to people.

Never liked Meebo and thought it was a bad move on DS' part. The old chat was better.

I don't like to "chat" period........so I don't even remeber the old thing......which must have been good cause it didn't bother me at all. Meanwhile, Meebo is a PIA, like Lizzie said....ya can't get rid of that stupid bar at the bottom...which now often times includes a small box of advertising that won't go away......and God forbid you should roll your mouse over it accidentally......................

Bottom line..its sucks and is intrusive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can understand the adds because we get to use DS for free but I would like to see them be less intrusive. The popups at the bottom are annoying and some of the adds are overbearing and intrusive as well.

My theory on the old chat is that as DS membership grew, their server could no longer support audio video chat but with this new server they recently transfered to which has alot more bandwidth, I would love to see either the old chat come back or something comparable to it!

I don't care to chat and I so agree with Debbear. I spend more time trying to get out of the adds! But I doubt it's going anywhere.

I've been on DS almost 3 yrs & have used the old chat & now meebo just about every day. The old chat had just as many glitches (just different) as meebo does. The annoying thing about meebo is the damn notifications every time someone comes on line. It used to be great to get real time notice of hugs, pm's, journal comments w/o having to go check my email OR refresh DS. And even refreshing DS didn't let me know that I had new comments in my journal.

So far I don't see ANY ads on DS or meebo because I use Firefox's adblock plus. The only thing I see on the meebo bar is "share page" on the far left and the 3 blocks on the left (friends on line, the annoying live updates, & accounts). The other annoying thing about this section is that when I try to click on friends, the stupid live update bar slides over it and enlarges itself. GRRRRRR

But as I have said in another thread, the meebo folks told me this is how it was designed for the change. What they didn't say is who's dumb idea it was. Meebo is on FB too, but doesn't have the same annoying features. And when I'm chatting w/someone on DS and meebo keeps booting us off, we just go to FB and finish the chat there. Soooooo, I think the meebo annoyances & glitches are more DS related.

Of course that's just my opinion, and as Dennis Miller always said, I could be wrong. ;-)
