Welcome! This community exists for DailyStrength members to have a place to share thoughts and feedback about the site with the folks that run DailyStrength. I have a modest proposal for the Daily Strength Website: have 'family pages'. Thise would be similar to the discussion group pages that already exist, with some minor differences. One difference might be that people could join a family page by invitation only, from the family page 'Administrator', thus allowing a family to have its own page with membership limited to family members. Of course, a 'family page' might not be just for what are considered traditional families, so that for example, you could invite your a close family friend to join your 'family page'. And if your family happens to be four unrelated women who share a house as roommies or even all of the residents of the same nursing home, that would be acceptable. Maybe the term 'family page' isn't even quite the right one; perhaps 'closed-group' or 'limited membership group' is a better way of describing the idea. What are your thoughts, anybody?
I have an invitation only group and unless you are invited by a member or ask/request to become a member I (and the admins) reserve the right to ask you to leave or even ban you from that group. You do need to pick your admins carefully though, you do not want anyone who is trigger happy (so to speak) or so easy-going that they are not able to do what has to be done.
It takes a bit of extra work in the wording of the group's aims at the start up and then to monitor the group, but I have only had to people who got angry with me and then one of them returned and thanked me as I had suggested a group she might find useful and she joined and really found the "home" she needed. Lemonade was made that time.
I know, I live in hope. LOL
