Deb, somehow, that doesn't surprise me. ahh well.
Disk cleanup deletes temporary files, logs...etc..., disk defrag takes fragmented files and combines them, moving the pices around on your disk to optimize speed (because any time it needs to read a fragmented file it has to find all the pieces when fragmented.... but with a single file all together there is only one search function)
NOW, if you are using an SSD (solid state drive) then doing a defrag will actually shorten the life of the unit and do nothing for speed. But defrag is recommended for actual turning hard drives.
And also the fragmentation problem is highly linked to your format type. The windows types being the worst. I ran a linux box continuously for 3 years and never had to defrag.
Sorry to overload. Probably too much info.
Kat, I use to have the CCleaner but didn't know how to use it! I do basicly the same thing but using the regular windows cleaner.
I have a friend here who is a computer engineer and this is what he told me:
Its more likely a setting or a socket fault, DS has recently moved on to distributed rackspace and they must be having problems with the DNS
I sent a notice to ds techs and they said they are working on it.
Could this have something to do with DS using a lot of space on our computer when it's open? Not being computer savvy, I'm not sure if that makes sense.
