I had this. I had nothing to do with CVID. It was a freaking nightmare and I was forced to get a hysterectomy because of it. I held out for 2 years using pain meds during that week only because I wanted more children...but it just got too bad :( I couldn't take BC because of a blood disorder that I have. I'm sorry it totally freaking sucks and they gyno's never took me seriously. I couldn't even walk during mine

i had to have a hysterectomy in my 30s, i had a terrible time with extreme bleeding and pain...i wasnt able to take bc due to migraines....i also had atypical cells for several yrs that had to be watched i also had yeast infections constantly the hystercyomy helped and i dont have problems now.... my daughter with cvid had problems she takes bc and it helps greatly....i held off on my hysterctomy until i couldnt any longer i was very reluctant to have it but it made life much more bearable....so sorry you are having problems i really dont have much info to help..just know that it sucks and i and i can relate...

Yes, for years I was told I had this. I was unable to work. I would run a fever, sweat like crazy, and ball up on the floor in extreme pain. I am unable to take birth control pills because they can aggravate a neurological condition I have. Dr's didn't seem to think it was all that big a deal No one mentioned a hysterectomy to me but I was told it would go away if I had a child. I never felt like I got a really good 'work up' but I didn't really know what a full exam should have been
A few years later I had to have surgery and it was found that my Dysmenorrhea was caused by Endomitriosis. My surgeon removed as much of the endomitrial tissue as possible and it has made a HUGE difference.
Also turns out I can't have kids so to hell with that first doctor who didn't bother to do a thorough exam which should have included an ultrasound, MRI, Hysteroscopy, and on occasion laproscopy.

Yes, Dysmenorrhea is the worst! I was on bc pills too, but it only put off my diagnosis by a year. in the end I had a hysterectomy and it turned out that in my last laproscopy they had missed that I had a fungal tumor on the BACK of my uterus (doc hadn't bothered to look behind things, how funny is that? ha ha, too bad about you wanting more kids, lady...). When you have CVID you have to consider every possibility. It really bothers me to this day that the bc pills were pushed on me as an "answer" to the problem. Like you, it didn't help anyway. Now there's something called NaPro Technology that a few gynecologists know about. You can look for it online. They try to actually SOLVE the problem instead of papering over it with more hormones which can lead to aggravating endometriosis and other things too. I know another CVID patient (many years younger than me) who had her Dysmenorrhea really better by BALANCING her hormonal profile. Remember the bc pill sometimes adds fuel to the fire because it adds hormones by fooling your body into thinking it's pregnant, so it's often more prudent to seek a practitioner who will look for the underlying cause instead of fiddling around with your body chemistry.

I know I'm late to the party - sorry. I used to have really BAD periods because of a bleeding disorder, for one, and so much pain, it felt like my whole repro system was going to be washed away in the deluge of blood and clots. When I got the bleeding disorder diagnosis, I was hemorrhaging so bad I need bags of blood to replace what I'd lost. So my gynecologist and hematologist medically induced me into menopause. Oh well. So that was a few years ago, and life is good in that department.
