I hate to tell you but antibiotics are the only cure for UTI s.
Had to take 8 days of Cipro, awful as it gave me the poops!

I have been on Humira for a year now, it helps my UC but I am open to infections.

Had 4 UTIS also

I was given Cipro last time for a UTI. It's been my best antibiotic experience so far. I had been UTI free for 3 weeks previously to this one. Assuming that I'm not just having side effects to other meds.

Hi- have you tried Cystex? It has been the best relief for me. I used to have frequent UTI's and this helped me prevent it by taking it at least 1-2 weeks. Fast acting and the liquid cranberry supplement doesn't taste bad. They have tablets too. It's OTC so you can get it ASAP. Something to consider if you've been looking. Good luck!

I've been fine for a few years now. My problem was that the UTI had spread further to the ureters, kidneys, and prostate. I just needed a longer round of antibiotics. Thanks for the info though. It'll come in handy if I have this happen again.

Only antibiotics will get rid of a UTI once you get one. So sorry that you have had 4! Ugh! They are the worst! The next best thing you can do is try to prevent getting one. Make sure to wear breathable underwear. Change clothes after working out vs wearing sweaty clothing. You can drink cranberry juice each day to help prevent UTIs. Just make sure it does not have sugar in it. You can also get powdered cranberry in a capsule. That is a little easier to take vs bitter juice sometimes. As a woman I know it is important to pee after sex, not sure about for a man. Probably doesn't hurt though. Along with breathable underwear they also advise not wearing thongs...though that might be more for women. Drink lots of water to keep things 'flushed' out. Those are the only things I can think of to help prevent UTIs.

Also! If you get another UTI. Be sure to get "UTI Relief" or something like that over the counter at the drug store when you get your antibiotics. It does not cure the UTI but it will help take the pain and urgency away sooner than having to wait for the antibiotics to kick in. A warning though, the one I took turned my urine Bright Orange! If you take it before going to the Dr be sure to let them know you have taken it for relief so they know when they do a visual inspection of the urine. It does mess the visual inspection at the office if you take it before going in because it will mask any possible blood in the urine. That is how orange it turns your urine. However, it is a life saver when you are in pain and need relief FAST!

I hate going to a hospital when I know that there is something that can just get rid of all of my problems right away. Now don't get me wrong, you need to see the doctor when it seems to the UTI has turned into a major problem, but because I know what UTIs (general ones) feel live, it gets expensive going to the hospital, having them prescribe antibiotics, and going home. It's a waste of time when I know that all I have to do is pick up a OTC product called Cystex. Cystex is awesome and has a tablet from that stops the burning immediately and gets rid of UTIs in two days. They also have a cranberry complex that is preventing UTIs before they happen. I no longer have UTIs as long as I keep up with the product. I hope you have healthy urine.
