not really too sure ,, I KNOW HUMIRA is in a syringe . but usually whenever you take meds on a plane you have to have the prescription and also a letter or a paper explaining what the drug looks like ( here in canada it comes with every medication) for example it would say yellow pills with a star on one side of it.

I would say get these things read and go to the airport at least 4 hours early and tell them about it and then they will make arrangments like for example putting the stuff in a cabinet in the inflight kitchen or whatever.

Im sure you'll be fine if you get these things ready so don't panic :)

Good luck on TSA calling you back. I would not count on it. You can go to their website and see what their rules are with injectable drugs, you can call the airline you are flying and get their rules, most likely go early and pack your Humira up in a little styrofoam box with some dry ice and don't forget to bring your prescription and you should be fine. Just to be on the safe side have a friend wait for you just in case their is a problem, they can always take home the Humira if you can't get through but I think you should be OK. Here are some other ideas. Check with the makers of Humira if the have some travel
packs or you can always Fedex you drugs the day before your trip.

thankx bart! =) I was thinking along the same lines, I think I will have the friend that's driving me stick around in case there is a problem, and leave instructions for it to be mailed if I can't take it. I love good backup plans. =)

I've never flown with Humira, but I have flown with Rowasa enemas before. I was worried that they wouldn't allow them since they're way more liquid than is normally allowed carry-on. I spoke to someone at TSA, and they told me to bring the prescription with me and to tell the security personnel who were scanning my bags that I had the medication. This worked easily for me. I wasn't even delayed (though I did leave lots of extra time just in case.) I just went in and took out my meds (with their prescription) at the check point, they took a second to look at them and confirm that they were legit, and I went right through. I'm not sure whether yours will be more of an issue because it's syringes, but they really can't keep your medicine from you. And I'm sure they deal with this all the time with diabetics. So try not to worry :-)

Call the Airline, It would be the same thing if you were a diabetic and you had needles for your insulin... Ask them how they handle this?

As you do want it as a carry on as you will worry about lost luggage if you check it in.

Thankx everyone for the advice! I finally got in touch with TSA. You can fly with your Humira (or other prefilled syringe meds), you can even bring ice packs along to keep your meds cool. All you have to do is declare it to security before you go through, they will check it, and it's all smooth sailing after that.. As long as your plane doesn't crash. Hehe. =) Now I can stop worrying and start being excited that I get to go to California for the first time ever!! Goodbye winter weather!! =D
