Bart, so sorry you are going through this. About a month ago I had some sort of a bug which I thought was the flu. I have UC, had a fever, extra body aches, and extra upset stomach. Oh it was NOT fun. Yah, UC does not help with recovering from the flu (and I would guess it is similar with Crohns). I survived on meds and staying home until the worst of it had passed.

sorry you are dealing with this. I have UC, and for some strange reason, everytime (approx once a year) I get a flu, my UC actually goes into remission, or I notice significant decrease of my UC symptoms. Ive tried to talk to Dr's to find the logic, and they have no theory, and just say its coincedental. My only guess is that maybe my immune system finally has something bad to fight off, so it forgets about my UC. Who knows.. anyway, feel better soon

Flu is no fun... Sorry to hear you've been down with it. Every time I'm in the doctor's office I'm asked if I would like the flu shot? -- No way!!!
My last child was born in 1988 I had the flu twice while pregnant with him... and only once have I had the flu since. Think my immune system is working over-time and I certainly don't want to introduce anything else to make it go crazy. I do wash my hands often - and use great cleaners containing bleach - the water here comes out of the spicket hot enough for a cup of tea! I've always thought I don't catch too much flu because my colon is pretty clear - there can't be too many toxins in my system... ??? what do you think? Maybe I'm just lucky! : ) either way - hope you feeling better!

Imneiss. Last time I had anything like this was in 1986 and I have gotten the flu shot every year since then. I guess this was my unlucky year. Glad to see the flu bug does not like you :-). Take care.

So sorry to hear you're feeling bad. I wish you a speedy recovery. I know whenever I get anything, even a bad cold, my UC goes into overdrive.

Sorry you're dealing with this! It definitely stinks when your body decides to throw another sickness onto you. I hope that you can begin feeling better before the holidays, and I wish you all the best!

I had the "24 hour flu" the other day. It was terrible. I was stuck in bed all day, fever, chills, headache, stomach ache, and nausea. I'm in remission so I know it wasn't my UC acting up, as right now i'm feeling pretty good. It was one of the worst days i've had in a while. I honestly hope you start feeling better soon. I am back to normal now. I believe being on Humira stretches recovery much much longer. I do have health insurance but if I went to the hospital I would have to pay 1500.00 dollars because my deductible has not been met. I wish that would not happen in our country because that and other money reasons prevent folks from going to the hospital. Hopefully someday we will have a national health insurance program that will be fair to everyone no matter if you are rich or poor.

One more thing I do advise if you have Crohns or UC and you are on Humira and you have a fever over 102 for longer than two days you should see a doctor or go to the hospital.
