I have taken your drug before and it did not work plus I would get real bs headaches. Talk to your GI person and tell them you are not feeling well from the drug. They should take you off of it and try another drug.

My GI prescribed 5 meds to see if any would help... They made me worse off with diarrhea and also added sharp pains in my gut - I would call him 2 -3 days after starting them and let him know what I was feeling and he would say stop taking them. He finally listened to me about not having any problems when I avoid dairy ( I don't think he believed me about this...) He finally agreed to go that route with me: I avoid dairy & He keeps tabs with the colon tests! So far it's working!
But I was never able find a drug that did work so It's probably not the same...

I stopped all of my meds, because they made me feel worse and had awful side effects. I started to watch my diet very closely and avoid the things that make my gut ache. I have been doing great, and my last colonoscopy was completely clean. Everybody's different though. Good luck!

I am seriously thinking of going this route too. I have 2 docs and they can't seem to agree on treatment, meanwhile I'm feeling like a sick test rat. My last office visit I told my local GI that I'd rather just not take meds than feel like this. He seemed sort of confused as to why I would say that.

My plan is to finish out what I have and slowly start weening myself from all of it. We'll see.

as of now I am feeling better I am only taking two pills aday. I had nearly a normal bm today.

That medication triggered an awful migraine for me. Had to stop it right away. I would ask your doctor for a new medication. Asacol is more expensive, but better tolerated by most people. You might want to try that one. Good luck in finding the right medication. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm not sure that stopping is the best idea. Ask your doctor about trying a new med first. If you are going to stop, I would try to wean off the meds gradual.
Really be careful what you eat, keep a food diary of everything you eat, and the way your body reacts to it.

Aliciars - I feel the SAME way! Like a test rat! Am on Remicade and was on Azathioprine for 11 months and both not working, so I stopped the azathioprine and the doc couldn't understand why I would do that. What would I want to keep adding meds to my body if they're not working anyway, 11 months was long enough to test it out!

This post makes me so happy to see how so many people here are as puzzled as the doctors when they see the puzzled look on their doctor's face when they tell them that they don't want to take their meds. I feel so not alone! I worry about one day not being able to afford all of the things I can afford at the moment. I'm graduating college soon and have to begin paying for everyhing for myself, so won't be able to afford all of the stuff I take now. I am not on anything at the moment, but things got a lot worse (although there was a good chunk of time when everything was better than ever!!) and I'm starting a new drug tomorrow.

I as on prednisone, Asacol, metholtrexate, and Remicade to deal with the UC and am on many other mdes to deal with the effects of the UC meds. my flares last about 6 months and the medicine doesnt help much. but ive noticed when i miss even one dose of prednisone it explodes.
