i suffer from joint pains... like many others here with ibd... and... well, i figured i would post how i deal with that because it has actually made me somewhat healthier(understatement of the year).
But basically, i have joint pain, and the very first thing when i wake up is just a whole bunch of moosiness, so i get up, and i take a REALLy hot shower... and then, i do a full body work-out... everyday. jumping jacks, sit-ups, push-ups, pull-ups, chin-ups, sit-ups, and then i have some free weights that i do various upper body and arm work-outs with. And now that the weather is getting warmer i am starting my runs again(not diarrhea... btw... almost everyone with ibd knows how to spell diarrhea... imagine that), and my joint pains, while i wake up with them most morning, because of my work-outs, i am able to get through the day without any problems. Also, because of my working out, my immune system is too busy repairing the muscle damage(that is a good thing... never over do it, always work up to it) that it leaves my gut alone most of the time!
Just figured i would share

wow, I had no idea. I have been wanting to try to excersise myself, but every time to do go for a walk or a run I end up with the "runs" lol diarrhea. Will that go away over time? or is that just me and my luck?

Whenever I try to exercise the pain seems to get worse. Is it because I haven't exercised in a while or is it really getting worse? Did that happen for you?

I used to do sit ups was told it promotes good digestion, it helped then i got preggers. I had the baby in feb 07 but getting back on track is hard i was fighting the pain doing the sit ups, but when i flared then i quit eating and lost way too much weight. Now i am waiting for this flare to end, then i will go back to it. I have to admit it does help for the most part when i was doing it i was in remission for a long while b4 i got preggers.

well, i did feel worse at firs, both because i was out of shape as well as my body acting a little adversely, but... well, i have had ibd for long enough now that i know what the signs are for when my gut is about to get better, and one of them is that while the pain gets a bit worse, and my trips to the bathroom slightly increase.... the other symptoms start to fade, like the tiredness and a few of the others... so basically, my gut gets a bit worse before it goes into remission.
