Crohn's disease is a systemic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) of unknown cause, that results in chronic inflammation of the intestinal tract. It can affect the entire gastrointestinal tract from mouth to anus, and can also cause complications outside of the gastrointestinal tract. There is no known medical or surgical cure for Crohn's disease, but there are many medical...
I guess we'll see!
People with UC can have skin issues. Along with joint pain, muscle pain, fatigue, and even eye issues. All related to inflammation. I have experienced a little of all of it except the eye problem (knock on wood!). Though I have had some issues of red, itchy, eye...that could be it. Sorry, off track.
In the beginning I had a rash on both hips and around my low back. Eventually that cleared up.
Recently I have been fighting a 'break out' on my low chin below the right side of my mouth. At first I thought it was hormonal. Then maybe an allergy or some dermatitis from, maybe, drool at night. Lovely idea I know, but baby's have that sometimes and adults can get it when they wear retainers (which I do for my teeth).
Any way. Nothing was working. I started to notice the relation of getting worse before and infusion and getting better after an infusion. Along with a lack of other UC 'issues' that I tend to have (as I tend to have cyclical symptoms that change after infusions. Makes for an interesting life.). I started to think my face 'rash' might be from the UC.
I tried an OTC hydrocortisone cream that did OK. I tried oral benadryl, which only helped me sleep better. ;) lol Tried an topical benadryl type cream.
THEN I tried a Psoriasis cream with 2% salicylic acid. That along with my latest infusion is doing a good job of keeping the 'rash' under control. I wash my face twice a day and apply the cream after washing. As long as I do that it has kept my face almost clear! I'm not sure if this or any of the other options might work for the skin issue you are having. That is why I wrote it all out. If the salicylic acid doesn't help your skin issue maybe one of the others would help. And even before I got on the creams washing twice a day WITH a wash cloth made a big difference. Not just soap and water, but a wash cloth in the affected area. Go figure!
I hope something in this helps your skin issue. :) Please let us know if any of it helps or if you have found a different solution.
