Hi,
i am back on prednisone, never a good thing for me, but this time my glands around my neck and below ears are so swollen i woke up this morning feeling like someone was strangling me with a big scarf.

i don't see this listed as a side effect anywhere, so i am wondering if this is something anyone else has had trouble with.

I am also dizzy and light headed for large stretches of the day, to the point where i am nervous to be driving. Is this common?

I wish i could say that the pred is helping, but its not.

Wow, I had never heard of that and everything I pull up on Google says that Pred would shrink glands. Might be Dr. calling time :(.

*sigh* too bad, i was kind of hoping it was a normal side effect. I really have other things i wanted to do tomorrow other than sit in teh doc's office AGAIN.

I experieced much of the same - especially on high doses of Prednisone. When I got down to 20 mg or below - I saw fewer side effects, but for some reason skin (acne) and hair problems seemed to kick in below 10 mg. I took many "rounds" of medication last year, and I could sort of predict at what dose I saw different effects.. And the light headed dizziness was typical for the high doses.

this morning when i woke up my glands were not swollen, so at least that is gone. i had a nasty headache last night, that seems to be pretty standard for me and prednisone though.
the dizzy thing is really annoying, i am pretty sure i won't faint or anything, but I still feel like i should be careful what i do.

try not to worry about it...I get super bad space-outs when I'm on the prednisone, so much so that I refuse to drive until my dose is under 20mg......I'm on 40mg pred atm and I've also got the whole swollen gland thing going on - I get really bad fluid retention and am just having lots of foods which are dierutics and exercising to try and sweat it out...good luck! :)

My dad had those kind of symptoms when he was on the pred. I've never experienced those symptoms myself, but I've been on a much lower dosage that he was. My dad was fortunately in a situation were he could take long naps during the day; that seemed to help with the dizziness.

I hope you're able to ween off of the pred soon, or at least lower your dosage.

ok, that helps, i am glad it is not just me, so now i am less worried. I haven't been so dizzy the last couple days, so hoping that part is behind me. i am on 40mg, but its not doing anything for the bleeding, so will most likely be going back up to 50 or 60. glands a little swollen again today, not as bad as a few days ago.
i am extra stressed right now cuz i am starting a new job in a week or two and my grandpa is in hospital. stress is always bad for my flareups. hoping to get some relief soon. :) thanks everyone!

Pred makes my calves swell if I eat too much salt, so I have to be extremely careful.
