Passing Mainly Mucous

So I know this might be TMI for some people but this is the place to ask. I have ulcerative colitis and was up sick all night long. Well, just a little bit ago I went to the bathroom and when I went to pooped it was pretty much all mucous and I was pretty gassy. I have been having a good amount of diharea and it stopped for awhile and then this happened. I just hate when I see mucous but I have never had that be pretty much the only thing that came out.

Just a little overwhelmed and anxious and curious if this happens to anyone else?!

Yes it happens to me as well. Diarrhea turning into nothing but mucous and gas.

I was recently diagnosed with crohn's colitis and my stools and colonoscopy showed I was producing large amounts of mucous, which the colon does to protect itself from ulcers and other things it considers toxic. My colon is currently inflammed and my doc says that was why there was so much mucous present.

I am currently doing my first medication treatment to get it into remission. The mucous is still there, but it's calming down a bit along with the cramping and gas.

Yes, I've passed mainly/only mucus - it's a sign that something's not right (meaning you likely have IBD ;) ), but not something to be overly stressed about. Get it treated but don't stress. I've also passed only blood which is definitely not good.

the start of a flare for me is usually kicked off with mucousy diarrhea. that goes on for a while then turns to blood as the ulcers get worse. it's likely a sign to see the GI before symptoms get worse. hope you feel better soon.

it happened to me many times, first is mucous and then blood, that means inflammation's of colon, my suggestion's is stop to drink all cold stuff ,ices, , alcohol,liquors, beer,,and.....diet is very important too. TRY

Yes - I know what you mean! Are you able to handle eating yogurt at all? If so try eating a few spoonfuls when you eat a meal this may help with the mucous - I also have noticed a difference taking vitamin E ... Hope this is helpful! Wishing you wellness!
