Crohn's Disease & Ulcerative Colitis Support Group
Crohn's disease is a systemic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) of unknown cause, that results in chronic inflammation of the intestinal tract. It can affect the entire gastrointestinal tract from mouth to anus, and can also cause complications outside of the gastrointestinal tract. There is no known medical or surgical cure for Crohn's disease, but there are many medical...
I got a CT then, they told me my inflammation was low... then sent me home with pain meds and prednisone.
Nothing has changed from then till now though, pain wise. I'm still in agony.
From a pill stand point. I always forget about tylonol which can ease the pain without effecting your stomach. You can also get a script for
Zofran for nausea. I know you don't want to take any more narcotics and I understand that. But there are pills you can take to ease stomach spasms like bentyl and I also find Xanax to help too. It relaxes me so that I can drift off to sleep. I know it's easier said than done but when you get yourself all worked up from all the pain you are in it makes it worse. Deep breaths, heating pads and some antianxiey can do along way.
I hope you feel relief sooner rather than later!
Acupuncture really helped me - most insurance plans will cover some alternative treatment or at least a percentage of it now. It honestly feels great - I know that seems so weird - but it's a total mental thing to get over the needle part - you can't even feel them honestly. You should check with your insurance company and see if they put out anything towards it. Most companies will recommend someone to you if you call too.
If you go to Whole Foods, there are lots of homeopathic remedies that are for abdominal pain, etc. - they get very very specific like pain related to ulcers, pain on the right side, etc. -- however, you have to be careful that they don't contain anything that's going to stiimulate your immune system.
I'm so sorry you're in so much pain. I had UC for 21 years and had surgery - obviously that's different for UC versus Crohn's but I relate to your long history and frustration.
I hope you can find something that will help you.
I invested in a jacuzzi - awesome! I take time to relax, I see a chiropractor, do my best to eat healthy - no junk - sugars bring on the pain for me... I avoid them.
And I read a bar of soap between the sheets while you sleep takes away the pain in your legs! We do this (I use oil of olay) and it works!!! Don't ask me how but humor me & try it! Do a google search and see if you can find more info on it! I'm really not nuts...least I don't think so.... xo! sorry you suffering...
Ashley- Just like Celestial Seasoning tea you find at WalMart, or do I need to get it from somewhere special?
Imneiss- Not gonna lie, it sounds weird, but I will give it a try!! Thankx. =)
I have considered getting a new doctor/s but I've always been so please with the one I have now, and he has run tests, done a CT on me, etc.. So it's not that he's shown no concern, but the tests aren't showing any problems.
I see my GI next month, and I am going to have him schedule a colonoscopy and go from there.
good bless.
Mint and camamoile are the teas that are supposed to help but I really love mint! Cold water can sometimes really upset your tummy and even warm water with limon can be soothing.
How are you feeling? Any better?
