i am in Canada as well and had a discussion with my parents about this subject and My opinion...is that i feel like they havent done enough testing on this H1N1 shot, i feel they are just amping up this "pandemic" to make millions of dollars for the pharmasutical companys... I for one will FORSURE not get this shot. I think with such a low immun system to start with that this will not do me any good in the long run... I havent done much or really any reasearch on it though so dont take my opinion to heart its just what i feel from seeing all the news and having conversations with people... Good luck!

My concerns are also that it hasn't been tested enough, but on top of that I'm not sure if this is a live virus injection. If it is, and you're on an immunosuppressant, I'd steer clear of it. It'd be purpsosely giving us a bout of the swine flu!
I don't think that the swine flu is as much of a problem here in australia. I'll be avoiding it.
I think the key is to figure out how *your* body would cope with the vaccine. If you haven't reacted to regular flu shot you might be ok.

i got both the regular and h1n1 shots. get the shot. the nasal spray has the live virus

Thanks all, Pat got both today after a battle with his Dr who said he only had 30 vials in the office. You tell me, with CD, Insulin dependant, MS symptoms from humira, loss of hearing in one ear due to an infection that has still not cleared up after all this time etc etc etc, he fought and said he wanted the shot. He also works with a lot of people, who needs to take the chance of getting sick eh. Yes, it is not a live virus.

I got the seasonal shot, the H1N1 is not available to me yet.

I got a seasonal flu injection a couple of days ago , i work in a surgery here in the uk and the doctors are all taking the H1N1 shot i am thinking about it doesnt help when people are walking in all the time with suspected Swine flu x

No vaccine is 100% safe, but they are statistically a lot safer than the diseases they protect against.

Just make sure your vaccine does not contain Squalene which is an immune stimulant which could theoretically worsen an auto-immune condition if not trigger one. Some of them might contain it if supplies run low.

I also avoid thimerosal.

i'm not sure how much this is on topic but here goes, i beleve the H1N1 flu is OVERRATED. i also live in canada. i have only gotten one flu shot in my life, and dont intend to get anymore, they are terribly bad for you and unnatural, if God decides its my time to die, i will die, be it from a flu or anything else.

At the Northern California CCFA Symposium today, the keynote speaker strongly advised anyone on a biological/immunosuppressant drug to get the H1N1 vaccine (the shot only NOT mist). Trouble is it's very difficult to find it. My partner works in a hospice program and is supposed to get it also but his program has none currently.

That speaker was Jonathan Terdiman, MD of UCSF.

The problem is the lack of vaccine, then TWO minor hockey teams and their familes got it...........oh lot of people are upset about that.

i seriously think the "lack of the vacine" is staged just to get everyone rilled up.
