I used a nearly perfect bathroom at a mall today, and was thinking about what makes a bathroom good or bad, so here is my list. What are your best and worst bathroom experiences?
1) No line up!!
2) either total privacy or even better, anonymity: i love a busy bathroom with lots of stalls, so its hard for people to know its me making the noises/odours.
3) toilet paper, good soft, two ply toilet paper, and lots of it.
4) clean - this would be much higher on the list if i didn't have IBD but not waiting in line trumps clean.
5) soap. preferrably nice smelling stuff that doesn't dry my skin.
My bathroom nightmare (I mean a literal, reoccuring nightmare i've been having for years):
hard to find, big line, no stall clean enough to actually use, broken toilet, unflushed toilet, toilet that wont flush, no tp, and a bunch of people knowing what i am doing, and no sink & soap. I seriously have this nightmare regularly, i have such anxiety about bathrooms.
Also bad, dirty spider infested outhouses with no hand sanitizer. the germophobe in me cringes at the very thought of these.

One thing about Japan that I've come to appreciate (and I never thought I'd say this) are heated toilet seats. At first it's kinda strange, because it feels like someone has just used it, but when the bathrooms aren't heated in the middle of winter a warm toilet seat is a lovely, lovely thing.
I used to worry about what other people thought but now, i am so used to having to do what i have to do that i don't care.
Heated toilet seats sound really cool! I would love that in my en suite in the winter, when i get up in the night, cuz i keep my house really really cold in winter to save money.

Cracked and lose seats are horrible but I think my biggest fear is the line, there is nothing worse than pooping yourself while waiting in line!!!

My #1 pet peeve at work is (we have several stalls in each bathroom) and someone I know goes into the same stall I just came out of, when there are plenty of open stalls to chose from! Or, when I am the only person in th bathroom, and the person coming in, chooses the stall right next to me! Urrgh. Isn't their some sort of ettiquette or unwritten rule that states that is a major faux paus and downright rude???
