I have had UC for ~15 yrs, mostly treated with the dreaded prednisone. In Jan I suffered another flare and my GI put me on Flagyl for 14 days along with colorcort enemas. This worked great. I started with another flare up a couple of weeks ago and took Flagyl for 10 days (that's all he prescribed this time). Anyway I had two days of doing great and now I'm feeling terrible and in another flare up.
Anyone have experience with flagyl and the length of time it's usually prescribed for? I wonder if I should have been on it longer.

I am glad some people are helped with this med. IT did nothing I could tell for me.

Thanks for your reply. Wondered, what side effects did you experience with flagyl?
I notice it gives me diarrea, then later in the course I ended up with the metallic taste in my mouth.

I was on the Cipro for one more week and developed a nasty rash all over my chest and abdomen, sigh.
I hope you feel better soon.

Then I lowered the dose from twice to one
