I'm wondering if my new Prednisone moustache will go away once I taper off the drug. I'm currently taking 15 mg and have been taking the Prednisone for about 5 months. In the past month I've noticed a very visible moustache and other facial hair! I've bleached the the moustache in order to hide but it now only looks like a blonde moustashe. Did I mention that I'm a 38 year old woman?? Help ! Should I wax this baby or will it fall out when I get off the evil Pred?

I have it, too...and heavy patches on my cheeks! I am allergic to all the bleaches and hair removal...so just sign me Hairy 45 year old in Indiana!

Consider electrolosis. I had upper lip hair, bleached for years but the best ever was the electrolosis. (sp) I now pluck the odd stray hair, that is all! This is not an instant fix, but the procedure twice a month gets rid of it and when it starts to grow you get another treatment. My Mum didn't have this, just lucky me! Ha.

Well, I did get my new fuzzy friend waxed yesterday. ouch! It still feels strange today...so smooth. Glad to be rid of the moustache, though. Now i'll have to figure out what to do about all this other facial hair on my cheeks and chin. I think that this will fall out after I'm off the prednisone. Thanks for the responses. I Know that there are bigger problems in the world than a little extra hair growth!

wax it, thats the only way, i bought the tweeze as seen on tv electric tweezers it works great since i have been on pred for the past 5 years, i dont bleach either, and wax is just messy the tweeze is mess free, a little painful but well worth it, works great for me!!!

the hair will not fall out after you stop the prednisone you will have bleach, wax or tweeze that as well, it doesnt magically go away.....good luck......

it improved when I went off the pred- but didn't disappear. Wax has been the ticket for me too... and you can have your full face waxed---- just don't do it if you are going anywhere else that day!

I shaved when I got the facial hair from Predn. It was the easiest way to deal with it & most effective. Waxing would havw worked, too. And the hair did go away after I was off the stuff for a while.

I am assuming those talking about facial hair are all women! lol

go buy a home waxing kit!! There's one called Nad's that you can get at Target and it's for the face- comes with an easy to use waxing wand and linen strips for about $14. I've been on high doses of steroids for the past 6 months and have been using my little kit every few days. helps to feel like you are "pampering" yourself when you don't feel well too.

my moustache currently grows faster than my boyfriend's. secretly, i think he's a little jealous. :)

yeah its from the pred, that does go away after u stop taking the med.
Despite your facial hair BBZinnia, I think your beautiful just the way you are. Who cares if you have facial hair or not :)
