Asacol Side Effects

I have managed to keep my UC dormant for over 2 years with a combination of David Klein's diet and Asacol. Over the past 4-5 months I seemed to have developed this pathetic little cough and a bit of chest flutters. I believe it's the Asacol. It would be appreciated if you shared your Asacol side effect stories and how you handled them.
My GI tells me it's a relatively benign drug but I don't buy what he's selling.

Mesalamine drugs make my colitis worse & causes arthritis... This happens within days of initiating treatment. It's my hunch that your symptoms are unrelated to Asacol though. That's just not commonly thought of as the typical extraintestinal manifestations of IBD

Found this web-site Steve... Near the bottom of the 1st page it shows the results of a study Asacol vs. Placebo testing (This was for Doctors to read & understand)
There were a low number of patients who showed an increased cough 2 out of how-ever many it listed - (this could well be your odds... go figure)
Bring this to your doctors attention they are only discovering new things daily - so be positive when you ask about things and you will find a doctor willing to work with you in finding what is best.
You and your doctor need to be a team so do all you can to work together (they really don't have all the answers) but together it helps the odds for the best solutions!
So glad to see someone is using diet as part of the answer!!! Good boy! Proud of you!

Gosh reading on... after prolonged usage Bronchitis developed in some patients...
