I have been retired for five years. I thought I would travel and get some great projects done, but covid intervened, money is tight, and I waste most of the days just piddling around.
I want a part time delivery job where I can drive around town. The less I have to deal with people, the better.
update: applied for a job a week ago Friday but haven't heard anything yet, other than "we received your application".
update: got invited to interview, which went well. Then I received a "conditional offer," pending my completion of more application info and their satisfaction with my references, credit, driving record and background check.

Frankly, the idea of going back to work is stressing me. They are hiring me as a retail sales associate, preliminary to training as driver. This kind of bait-and-switch is classic employer abuse of employees, but could be merely due diligence on their part. I'll be pushing a broom for awhile, before I get behind the wheel, even though I have a year of semitruck-driving experience.

It looks like I passed my background checks. I got a copy of the employee handbook today. There is a uniform dress code. Do I have to buy it, or do they?

I have been doing the delivery driving job for nearly a year now. It doesn't suck too bad, since I only work half time. Once in a great while I get overworked, but I still have lots of time to goof off, and I save money by not needing to go to the gym for a workout. The money helps, too.
