Leading Separate Lives within dementia

How do you REALLY lead a separate life when you live with someone who has dementia? My personal counselor strongly suggested I do this.

dontwannabbe, what did your counselor mean by live a separate life? I'm not sure I understand what this means either. Can you give us more info about your husband? My husband has dementia, too, and I don't know that I want to live a separate life.
