I am new to this site. I have severe emphysema and in 4th or 5th stage. I am still in shock, only being sick for a year and a half.
I thought it might be interesting to take polls....., study and discuss them. For instance. I heard that we have all been important to others, an inspiration to others, and have made a difference in other peoples lives and we never knew it. A poll, to ask family members, best friends, ministers, co-workers, etc, if they had any stories to share about how someone had made a huge difference in their lives and never thought to tell them.. or never thought it was that big of a deal, and later realized, how much that person would have liked to hear that.
When I was a little girl and stayed with my cousin who was my age, for a couple of weeks in the summer, we always enjoyed our time together. We went to the drive in movies one night to see a horror movie. A giant spider that walked through the street scarring all of us cousins to death. I woke up in the night with nightmares, and I just knew that spider was in the closet of the bedroom. My Aunt was so wonderful. She came in with a hanky, scented with a lovely perfume, and said now you smell this hanky when you're scarred and you'll go right to sleep and dream good dreams. It worked and I remembered that story all my life, even doing the same thing with my kids when they were scarred from bad dreams, or anything else. I say my Aunt and Uncle many years later and decided to share that story with them. We all had tears in our eyes as I thanked them for making me feel so safe and loved. They didn't even remember when it happened. But I never forgot it. My uncle died a few years back, and I told that story again to my Aunt, when she near 85 years old. Again tears came to eyes and mine as well. I think this would be a great way to share stories, discuss them and pass them along before it's too late! Thanks so reading.........Chelle

I also have a severe stage of COPD. I've been blessed to have a great support system. I'm loosing weight now so my daily activity building muscle and stamina are important. My FEV1 is less than 30%, but has not seriously declined over the years. I was diagnosed 10 years ago. I wish you well, glad to see you here. I'm new here myself..
