Interesting reading, thank you. I found out dealing with my father and my brother how the system works. It's always best to see what debts are forgiven upon death before sending out the checks. A lot of the things I thought would need to be payed off just went away. I sent copies of the death certificates when the first monthly bills came in and made the short list from the companies that responded after that.

having taken care of family members when they passed; what amazed me the most was how fast SSI and government retirement stopped (that day), but the bills didn't.
seems the income should come in for AT LEAST a month to cover the bills of the month someone passes.
i've made a trust and all the paperwork possible for my kids to take care of me before and after i die....everyone should do that whether they have an illness or not.

As it stated I was told when my husb passed that I was not responsible for anything that I did not sign for or have my name on it. He has a brand new truck and it was a total loss, his name was on it but I had it covered by insurance in my name so after they paid off truck I received the balance of money.
When my sister passed on I was her POA but once they have died that ends. But she didnt leave any debt behind but hopes this helps anyone reading it.
