You are a tad young, but over 50 vision problems can be expected. Medication, age, environment, ... doesn't matter which may be responsible it happens.

Frankly, while "bringing it up with Dr. on next visit" is always required, I doubt - if the "Dr." in question is a Pulmonologist - you will get a reliable answer. Possible, but the odds are against you.

You need to go to an Ophthalmologist. Preferably one that works in an Eye Center (were both eye surgeons, optometrists, and opticians are available). He/she will do a through examination - there are a ton of subtle eye problems that can cause mild but annoying symptoms - and worse - the cause can range from the easily remedied to tragically serious. You need to be examined by an expert that has the knowledge and tools to test.

I have not had the same experience that you had, but I did have several odd eye problems - I asked my GP, my Cardiologist, and my pulmonologist, as well as various technicians I came across (rehab, checkups, opticians, etc.) - I got either a suggestion to use eye drops, or just a blank stare. Finally set up an appointment with an "Eye Doctor" - and just in time. Had a condition that would have resulted in loss of vision if I had waited much longer. They fixed it.

It is unfortunate, but medicine has just gotten too complicated, with possible malpractice if one advises outside their expertise, limited time, limited ability to order tests, etc. It is an unfortunate fact of life and COPD especially that you are going to build up a stable of more and more specialist - more and more co-pays. That sounds very scary. I have not had that happen to me either. I agree with gnott that seeing a eye dr would be a good idea. good luck & let us know what you find out if this is a COPD thing or inhaler side effect!

Thanks... follow up: Went to ophthalmologist and he concluded it could have been an "ocular migraine". However, while I have experienced the zig zag things on occasion, not this (total vision lost in 1/2 the field of vision). I did not feel any headache but they say headache pain is not always present. Next step would to see a neurologist but more so to rule specific things out, not necessarily a cause. As I am reading on-line if it was a TIA not much they do for these things. Have had a tightness on right side of neck for some time now due to SOB etc. and sometimes right shoulder pain but at my last visit with pulmonary Dr. - this did not phase him. I am scheduled for a CT scan (normal check up for lung condition) if my insurance ever gets around to pre-approving, as they require. Maybe I will see how this turns out to see if there is anything that might help explain it.
