It never worked very well for me, and made my heart race even faster than the albuterol. Do you use an inhaler or a nebulizer? Nebs can make a big difference in how well the medications work. And if you use only an inhaler, make sure to use a spacer device.

I have used spacers and nebulizers. If the albuterol isn't working, I doubt theophylline is going to work. Glad you are doing better miss Sue 825.

My understanding is theophylline is not prescribed as often as it used to be due to side effects as Sue mentioned. My own prescription was in pill form, taken once a day, but I never did take it, as I felt I had enough other meds.

A spacer device is something attached to your inhaler, kinda looks like a tube. The object is to get more of the medication into your lungs and using one seems to help.

For myself, I also use a nebulizer, when having an exacerbation. Like Sue, I think it works the best, but it's not as quick nor convenient as an inhaler.

I am using Theophylline and I haven't had any side effects and am no sure if it is working.

I wonder if Zoponex might work, I took it once during an exacerbation when the albuterol made my heart race too fast.

I don't know a lot about Zopenex. Appointment on 7/7. I'll ask.
