I finally got my test results.
Spirometry. Severe obstruction. No Bronchodialator response. Flow volume loop demonstrates a normal respiratory curve with the expiratory curve consistent with obstructive lung disease.
Diffusion capacity is severely reduced
Patient did not meet ATS criteria for the diffusion capacity of the test.
I spent considerable time on Google last night trying to find some helpful info on all this but didn't really find anything of particular interest.
Does anyone else have test results like this. If so is it treated any differently or what can you tell me about it?

Diffusion capacity is also termed DLCO (Carbon Monoxide Diffusing Capacity). It is a measure (in percentage) of the lungs ability to transfer CO2 from the blood and O2 to blood. http://www.emmc.org/respiratory_medicine.aspx?id=29856
ATS is the Academy of Thoracic Surgeons. They arrived at the standards and processes for the PFT measurements. The technician is saying you were unable to inhale or exhale or hold your breath the "required" amount of time. Not a major consideration and many of us cannot test to the ATS criteria.

When I contacted the Drs. office and told them I wanted the test results, that is what I thought I was going to get. Instead I got their conclusion of the test results. I WILL be making another phone call. I also see the Pulmonologist on the 20th.

Please let us know what they say. I called twice to get my results, of my lung study, and i'm still waiting for them to call me back.
I guess just knowing, is all that i want. My status/condition..even though I am off oxygen, and feeling better and breathing better, i want to see what the test showed.

and i'm the ornery sort---i don't leave the offfice until they make me a copy of any tests they just went over with me.

we are protecting ourselves so much from skin cancer that we don't get the needed D.
also (handy lil info from when i raised goats & drank their milk)---vitamin D is in milk naturally. now days they add it because of all the processing deletes it. BUT, vit D also deletes when stored under light---what do they do in stores? put it in plastic bottles under lights (duh)---
thats why in the old days it was stored in metal jugs on the farm, and even the old cardboard store milk was better.
sometimes ya just can't win and need a supplement or get your own cow or goat for fun and health LOL
But actually I have a cow story, and a good memory, that i'd like to share!
My family and I used to live in a country neighborhood when I was about 4 years old. The farmer next door, had cows..and his property came out behind our land, right behind our big driveway area, and back yard.
My brother Bill and I used to go up to the fence & visit with the cows. There was this one cow, that used to come up to us all of the time, and we would hold out our hand flat...with an apple.
The cow took the apple so gently!!! So we ended up naming it "NICEY".....This is me..the 4 yr old, and my big brother, the 6 yr old!! LOL!!
So, that's my cow story, and i'm sticking to it!! All true, and I remember that story all by myself, because I have excellent long term memory! Ask my mom!!
Oh and I had a huge crush on the 17 year old boy that lived next door, named Mike. When my Mom used to wash my hair in the sink, I would cry-because sometimes the soap would get in my eyes and she would say, "You better not cry, your boyfriend Mike will hear you!!!" So, then I would stop crying, Hahahah!! Ah...the memories of childhood, they are priceless!

If you went to a different office, lab or technician to have the test done, see them for the raw test data (although I'd think the doc would have had it). T think some of these people act like they are betraying some kind of secret code for giving us our own information...

Yeah I did go to a lab in a hospital and not the Drs. office, however I do believe that the Doctor does have what I want. I shall be contacting his office.
