Check with your local pool. Many make different arrangements in accordance with the Americans with Disability Act. You may have to jump through some hoops but usually something can be worked out.
Would suggest you use a non electric O2 system though!

water pressure might take it's toll on the lungs of one of us....under that much water! doesnt it increase the pressure the deeper you go?

You might find out that you may not need oxygen in the pool. I too am on oxygen 24/7 and I find that I can breath easier in the pool.I am curious to know if anyone else feels this way. I have severe copd and my FEV is 26% and I dont do alot of swimming mostly walking around and playing with grandkids in the pool.

Everything I have read has said swimming and low impact water aerobics can be good for those with COPD. I'd talk to my doctor beforehand, though, as I have also read of the possibility of bacteria entering a cannula. I hope you can and if you do, that you'll let us know how you are doing.

Roe, If you are talking about a public pool , you can contact the ACCESS board. It is a federally funded agency that makes places be compliant with the American Disabilty Act, as Lisa was saying. If they give you an gruff about your tank. You should have access anywhere, any building or business.

I just put in a pool this year and it was worth it. I just keep my tank by the pool under the deck of the house to keep it out of the sun. It is so relaxing.Well worth the trouble it takes to get into the water wherever you may be.

Its so good you want to be in the water, I love it too, to float and feel free its wonderful.

As far as your oxygen tank is concerned, just make sure you have a long enough tubing and place your tank a back from the waters edge.

If it gets wet, dont worry, just dry it off.

Water wont hurt the tank its self, but the gage could get moisture in it.

I say have a wonderful time. Choose adult swim time at the pool, and stay in the lane next to the side of the pool.

Have a relaxing time and enjoy.

PS, if your using a portable oxygen concentrator, the make sure its not too close to the water and have a long tubing, the tubing is the key.

For anyone setting up a pool Baquacil is what I use instead of the harmful irritant chlorine. No odor and does a great job.

If you can access a private pool or pay for a private session in the public pool I would recommend it 100%.

I go swimming in our local pool and the water comes right up to the top leaving no gap between water level and walkway alongside the pool.

What I particularly enjoy to recover my breath (after a little swim) is rest my head on the pool edge and just allow the water to take the weight of my body, it's great and so good to feel the water lapping on your skin, resting almost weighless.

I think you would be able to achieve this with pool water levels the same, you could have the oxygen cylinder several feet away and tubing to reach you floating near the edge. You may need to put up some red tape or traffic cones so people don't trip up your cannula tubing tho :O)

I'm hoping you can sort something out Roe, it will make you feel good, of this I don't doubt.
