I hope I spelled it correctly. I learned something very interesting yesterday. Did you know that your subconscience cannot recognize a negative? As an example if you hear Mr. X is not a child molester, your subconscience processes Mr. X is a child molester.
This came up in therapy yesterday as I was explaining how sometimes I can "Talk myself out of" a panic attack when I can't get my breath back. I would tell myself to calm down, breathe, etc., and" I will not die today from this attack". What I should be saying is I will be ok. I will come through this. Positive affermations.
Thought this was interesting so I am passing it along.

I needed to hear that. I am going out with a good friend this afternoon for lunch and shopping. It will probably be a wonderful time but I struggle so when I am out that I dread it instead, until it actually is happening. That, coupled with being alone since Don died, makes me have to do positive affirmations a lot since it is too easy to just isolate.

Well, I never heard of the statement that your sub conscience can not recognize a negative. Your sub conscience records everything , every micro second of your life, thoughts, ect, and files it away . When you dream, it is this that lets out the images you dream about.
But I totaly agree with positive thinking, and it is one of the most important things we need to learn to do. If we can find something positive in all statements,in all things, people, ect, it goes into our consciense and sub conscience, and we can be filing away good feelings and thoughts, altho what positive about a child molester I don.t know, maybe he went to jail??
but this is a rather interesting statement, and since I love stuff like this, I will check it out. It could very well be true.
Positive thinking, surrounding your self with positive people, all those things help us thru .

I AGREE.I HAVE BEEN USING POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS AS AN IMPORTANT AND MOST HELPFUL COPING SKILL FOR MY DAILY LIFE FOR YEARS NOW.SURE ENHANCHES MY JOY IN LIVING.BEATS BEING NEGATIVE ANY TIME.IT IS A TRIED AND TRUE COPING SKILL THAT WE CAN USE IN ALL SITUATIONS.WE NEED ALL THE POSITIVE WE CAN GIVE TO OURSELVES AND OTHERS,MJ.

hmmmmmm
so if a person tells someone they are dumb, the subconscious knows its not true & will filter that out?
then why all the psychology stuff about not telling kids they are dumb, fat, ugly....
or; all those years i spent telling my teenage daughter "she was NOT fat" i was doing it wrong????===parenthood, ya just can't win at LOL
like bj, i gotta think about this one (i too love this stuff)
