Your 165 heart rate sounds almost scary. It sounds like you have more of a heart problem than a breathing problem. I have been lucky to have a very strong heart. Please check out that top end heart rate.
Ed
I have had numbers similar to yours without O2, but then I have heart valve issues. Ask your pulmo about it, but keep wearing your O2.
Also, take your meter to the doc's office with you occasionally to verify your numbers against theirs. Pulse-ox meters go bad just like everything else.

Last month I started my started my pcp on a process that will check my circulatory system and heart. Maybe I wasn't being a hypochondriac?

Seriously, if you have severe COPD and/or other heart disease factors - diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. you should get heart assesment annually.
For that reason, I can no longer take anything with Albuterol in it. Jim
My 02 is around 94-95 usually but left n right fingers can give a different reading.....my pulse is always high 90's - 120.
If I exert..esp lately my o2 can drop to high 80's but if I use 1ltr/min oxygen it goes up quick to 95 or so....
I can be SOB with high numbers also....
Your numbers seem pretty consistant until you get to the 165 heart rate!! Yikes Brother!! Please get that checked out.
Anytime your body needs more oxygen, like when you are exerting your self, your heart speeds up to pump more good blood thru, if your lungs are impaired, you need the supplemental oxygen to help.
I was upset last week because my bloodpressure was reading 130109. I found out my cuff needed batteries, But a pulse of 165 is so dangerous.
As someone else said, just because you are parinoid, that does not mean you are wrong!! And I get parinoid too.
Do you take your bloodpressure also? Please let us know what the doctor says.
Brenda
quit taking your 02 off!
it's obviously making your heart work too hard to try & get you enough 02!
(and yes i monitor both because they are intertwined----my word of the day :) )
btw; how can you stand having spo2 that low? i went to 78% once (wearing 02 & overworking) and thought i was going to have a heart attack! i had to lay down & pant like i was dying---i never did that again! (mid 80's% is bad enough feeling to me!)
I sort of freaked over your 165 pulse yesterday, so let me see if I can give a better response today.
I do all my vitals every morning, pulse, o2, blood pressure, and I am on 2L of 02 when walking or exerting, and 1.5 at night sleeping.
My normal sitting with o2 on, rate is around 98/85. When I get up and walk to the other room, and I am up a while, it gets about 96-97 to maybe 102 pulse.
If I exercise i sometimes turn it up to 2.5 or 3L, but not always, depending on how I feel, and I never let my heart rate go over 130, or my o2 to drop below 90. The heart rate is calculated by my doctor considering my age, health, ect, and a few times it has hit 135, but rarely.
On my blood pressure, normally it is about 130/70 when I wake up and drops to maybe 125/75 during the day, or even to 117/70. The top number being how much pressure my heart is putting out pumping that good blood thru, and the bottom number is the resting rate between beats, and it is suppose to be always low. That is the number I freaked out over last week because it kept reading 130/109 or 140/129/ and a trip to my Dr. confirmed my bp is normal but my machine needed batteries!!!
I hope you stay on that o2, if the doctor ordered that. Also, ask him to calculate your heart rate for you, so you will know what to work toward when exercising.
What is really great is when your body gets use to the exercises and your heart rate stays low!!! That means you have to rise the bar a notch, like add more minutes or more weights, but never exceed your projeced heart rate, and always get a doctors advice on exercises.
Sorry if I come across sounding bossey, I do not mean to. I am just speaking of my own experiences and you probably know more than I do about all this!! lol

so i do want to apologize if i offended you in any way---it scared me when i read how high your heart rate was without 02 and i just wanted to "fix" it.
please forgive me.
BTW; the kids (adults) and i play with the 02 monitor all the time. i found it interesting that in "normal lung people" like my son, he reads in mid to higher 90's & bp around 80 or so at rest.
if he excersises his pulse goes up & so does his 02.
when i am at rest my 02 is in low 90's (with o2 for me) & my pulse is around 70. but if i get up & move my pulse goes up but my 02 drops.
did that make sense?
==normal lungers pulse goes up & 02 goes us with movement
==with me pulse goes up but 02 drops with movement
thats why when i'm sitting my 02 is better than if i even move 10 feet.
been a long day LOL
but i am sorry if i was bossy or offended you in any way.
