I am not aware of any long term health dangers associated with the odor. However, I am aware of people with asthma and those sensitive to odors complaining of difficulty breathing and sometimes even throwing up. I do recommend that you expose yourself as little as possible to the smell.

used coffee grounds;
1. go thru campground & collect all the used coffee grounds you can (i was dealing with a long haired collie on a camping trip LOL)
2. wet dog & shampoo once.
3 rinse shampoo out
4. spread coffee grounds (like sprikling pepper) through the dogs coat getting to skin.
5. let set about 15 minutes.
6. add shampoo again
7 wash & rinse like normal making sure all shampoo & coffee grounds are out.
that worked for me anyway (we tried the tomatoe juice before & he just smelled like tomatoe juice, wet dog & skunk LOL)

I have also have heard the douche remedy. But I was told to put it in a spray bottle and spray the dog.
This is his 4th skunk, I wish he would learn! Or maybe I shouldn't fall asleep and leave him out after dark.
