What I do know is that one of the side effects of our meds is cataracts. Has this been checked for you? I had planned to have my cataracts removed this summer, but delayed - just made up excuses. My vision is somewhat fuzzy (not so much that I sense an immediacy) so I need to put this on my TODO list for Get It Done. I know several people who've had this done with limited side effects - just a week or two at home as the blur clears up.

This can also be a serious complication of diabetes, which some of us have gotten due to steriods. If it does not clear fairly quickly, call your doctor.

I am sincerely sorry for your eye issues.i had my eyes checked out about 4 months ago.found out I do have cataracts,but not large enough for surgery then.my dr wanted to try glasses for now,since im legally blind.i am a canidate for lazer surgery.just waiting for cataracts to enlarge,so I wont have to have 2 surgeys,being that the lazer surgery should take care of both conditions.you may pm me if you need or want to talk.im on quite often.im sending you much love and prayers from my heart to yours.please let me know how you are doing.mj.

I did have cataracts and had the surgery, and it was no problem. Just have to apply drops at night and wear a night guard shield over the eye at night, for about a week. He did mine one eye at a time then waited several weeks and did the other. It is amazing how my vision improved. I have worn glasses all my life, trifocals this last time, and now I do not need them except for reading small text. They are caused by age and by a lot of the meds we take.
My eyes would be blurry, itchy, burning at times almost like an allergy.
You should have this checked out, as CaitsMom said, it could also be a complication of diabetes, or several eye problems.

Brenda and TJ are correct, mine were caused from Diabetes, in my 30's I had the surgery, one eye then a year later the other, both under the knife, no implant.

It's well worth the investment to get your eyes checked then you will know why and what to do about it.

There are lots of things that could cause it- as several have mentioned, diabetes, blood pressure out of control. Mine have been driving me a little crazy right now, too; it's as if I'm sitting here crying. Mine is believed to be from dry eyes- the drier the eyes the more they tear. Given all the dust from the fires and pollen in the air from our late summer, it's a definite possibility and if you feel like your covered as far as your blood sugar and blood pressure are concerned, a vial of drops is under $5 to see if that helps.

i just have the "old age blindness" when reading that has gotten so bad it frustrates the heck out of me...but my normal vision is normal? weird......how can one see okay one way, but i have to wear +2.50 glasses to read book size print (forget even trying to see writing on stuff at store LOL)

Went to Optometrist today for new glasses. My cataracts are so bad that the Dr. recommended i consult with my Opthalmologist before getting new lenses. Here's hoping it's an easy fix.
I can no longer read street signs till it's about too late. I have a "Tom-Tom" but I think it has malevolent intent to drive me off the road!! :o)

Thanks guys for all the comments. I'm going to check first with my eye doctor since it's only been 3 months since my exam and new glasses. I am concerned about the diabetes thing since I would under no circumstances have my doctor find that out. I'm on too many meds now and with medicare they're about to drive me into the poor house. I'm on 5 Lpm o2 so I don't think diabetes will probably be what ends it for me anyway. When thinking about it - I have gained weight as my o2 useage has gone up and become 24-7 and my activity levels have pretty much dropped to nothing and both are related to Type 2 diabetes. Please don't think I fail to appreciate the suggestion - I wouldn't have thought of that one myself. I'm going to commit a sin and try an at home experiment to see if it makes a difference. I'll cut carbs and sweet snacks and see if it has any impact on the problem. If so you guys who suggested this may feel that you have cured me. LOL. Again thanks for the comments - it's always so nice to feel like someone cares.



I should not be posting today but wanted to express my thanks - I'm just really down today and couldn't handle another illness or even the thought of one.

I am sure we have all been there . We never really plan for health problems. They sneak up a lot of the times and just attack.
It's hard to know what to do, how to handle it, and why it's happening when we are so overwhelmed with issues. I have been there many times. I have 90 miles round trip to the nearest ER or doctor's office so I put it off, and that's always trouble.
I usually call my doc, or the nurse helpline for my ins. program. it does help and always makes me feel like i have accomplished a positive. Just to take action helps. I tend to procrastinate, not good for respiratory patients. (or vision questions...as I found out.)
Know a lot of people care about you, and you are not alone.

I recently (4 months) got new glasses, (bifocals) and from time to time I have blurring issues. I am not diabetic so that isn't the issue, but sometimes I could be impacted by all the damn drugs I have to take. I am not suggesting for a second that you blow this off. I would suggest you talk to your doc about the collective impact of you are required to take. Take care, Bill
