Just wonder if any one has severe Copd here that has an increase in heart beat and I understand that when Emphyseme get to a severe stage the right side of the heart beats faster and mine has about 8 to 10 BPM increase in the last maybe year at rest . I do all the work I can and do rehab excerise 3 times aeek if I am not sick . I have Myasthenis gravis also and my meds weaken my immune system. This is a good forum however you better check out all the info with a reliable source and it is best for people to state where they get their info. My lung doctor told me about the increase in BPM and It seems hard to find a really good lung Doc. Good luck to all here .

I think the inhalers cause the increase to the heart rate. Normal at rest is between 60-100. Mine goes to 115-120 when walking.

Thanks for the post and mine goes to about the same when exercise however my pulse at rest used to be about 84 and is now about 94 and I understand the right side of the heart will increase BPM with severe Emphysema and I t is si weird that everyone is so different., just hope we can live a while longer and be able to take care of our self.

Believe I will stop inhalers for several days and just see it the heard will slow down.

I had started increase in heart rate last year. The pulmonary doc sent for echocardiogram which found pulmonary hypertention. Which means the lungs are damaged and heart has hard time pumping blood into lungs. And is on right side. I would ask your pulmonary doc and tell them about heart rate. When I get real short of breath and have a small pneumonia starting my heart rate goes up ove 100. Normal for me is 75 or so. Trouble is heart doc dont know much about pulm and pulm not real good about heart issues.

albuteral can increase heart rate too but you should have noticed a long time ago. I have very severe emphysema too

Thanks for the post and what you say goes along with what I have been reading on Heart rate with severe Emphysema and I am thinking about just cancel my heart doc. appointment .Thanks again

Barrein - Welcome aboard although I'd rather this be the Love Boat than what it is. Trying to cope is scary and it only gets worse. There will be some rough edges but for the most part, they level out.

Grace, I have pulmonary hypertension also. Perhaps you might want to consider being treated by a cardiopulmonologist as they are up on both spheres of this nightmare we live with.

Where do you live? Perhaps my guy might have a referral. I'm in the Los Angeles area but in their field that probably doesn't matter. I just quickly went over and Googled "Cardio-Pulmonary Department" and received almost 1.5 million hits. I believe it's safe to say that all major hospitals have such a department. Good luck.

I do not think you should cancel it, it may be something that may need looked into. I did not go , but maybe should. Mine is going high again. Used to be in 70s now high 70s to high 90s. And had a few times over 100. She said they would probably do a cauterization, which scared me I hate the poking and prodding. Just a chicken.
