I think the camper is a wonderful idea! A great way to get out and about but away from crowded places.
I think the general consensus about exercise and COPD is that any movement you can manage is beneficial.
Do what you can. Challenge yourself gently and take your time. Good luck!
Do remember it is hugely important for breathing to stay away from camp fires. And if you are on oxygen, be wary too of using/storing it too near propane & other fuels.
I have not done much camping since I was diagnosed, but recall fondly many happy hours spent backpacking on the Appalachian Trail.
Hugs.
most campgrounds have "quiet time" from 10pm to 6am & can't run a generator.
so i would take plenty of Etanks to get me thru the night with 02. i was on 2LPM then & and could get thru 8 or so hours with 2 Etanks.
i love to travel so i think it would be great fun if you have someone to help you with the heavy stuff & you arrange 02 along the way.
i think i'd head south in the winter & go north in the summer---i like warmth.
have fun :)
Anyplace you are exposed to germs is potentially bad for you. What scares me more is sitting in the waiting room of the doctors office, or visiting at the hospital.
As for the camp fires: It is not a good idea, but I can't give them up. I just try to stay up wind of the smoke, which is hard for me because smoke follows beauty.
I got SO sick last year like SEVEN times visiting my Dad in assisted living so I try not to stay there for too long.
Someone is always hacking and coughing in those places!
I lay down for a nap and forget all of them.
I have stairs and that is pretty difficult these days.
My second bucket list place to visit is Alaska. Anyone been there? Few folks have told me it is hard to breath there because the air is thin... anyone, with experience . Thanks,
(((HUGS)))
