Hi there. So grateful to have found your forum I am actually writing because my room mate has recently been diagnosed with COPD and and emphysema, and has recently been prescribed oxygen at night. Medicare won't pay for his oxygen concentrator until he can get in to do a sleep study for sleep apnea, because they need to know if he needs a concentrator or a CPAP machine. The sleep study has been scheduled at the end of January. He really cannot breathe. He's been sleeping in the recliner and often wakes up gasping for air. We had the prescription sent to an oxygen delivery company and are currently paying out of pocket for the oxygen, until he can get in to do the sleep study. This costs about 200.00 a month. My question is, are there places that sell these machines wholesale or rent wholesale or something that is a little less expensive than paying retail? He does seem to benefit from this, but if Medicare decides not to pay for it, it's a huge chunk of money each month. Any ideas or resources would be greatly appreciated.
