I agree if we dont pay attention to what that are doing to us and giving us it could be bad. They get mad at me cause I read so much online and then question things also I worked at hospital 14 years I know how some Doctors and Nurses are. We better start taking an interest in our own health cause they are there for like u said the botttom line. I ffl soo strongly about this cause they gave my husband too much chemo (his first treatment) and I walked back there to find him dead . All those nurses in there and they didnt even know he died they were suppose to be watching him cause it was his 1st time. They also nearly killed me not too long ago with Doctors and nurses standing arounding around telling me I could breath and I just about died I was not getting any air they were putting a tube in my neck and something went wrong. So I dont mind telling u I question everything they say and due.

You can add the pharmacist to that list of doctors and nurses as well. Can't tell you how many times I've received the wrong medication over the years. Got to be proactive.

This is such an interesting topic. There is so much of this going on. I hear you birdlady1..........I use to have a Dr years ago whom I thought I liked until one day he , in a mean way said "There you go! Trying to diagnose yourself again" Last time I went to him

My niece died from a house fire because the nurses couldn't find the oxygen machine. this was many years ago, like oh........45 yrs ago when they still used the tanks on wheels in hospitals.

My sisters husband died because they diagnosed and treated him for pancreaitis and he had a blood clot leading to the stomach......no pancreaitis at all.

My nephew is on dialysis for final stage kidney disease. He must avoid potassium......at all costs. he almost died once as the levels were too high. Went to a Dr that gave him an RX and when he got to the pharmacy he looked at it and it was for Potassium. they had all his records. pure neglect that can lead to death.

My niece was given the wrong RX. it would have killed her.

One of the last times I was in the hospital the nurses were very mean...........I wet the bed because they had an IV in my and I have a bad bladder. boy that pissed them off. I kept telling them I would need to be catherized because I couldn't wait for someone to take me to the bathroom. I was doped up the ying yang. anyway they just ignored me.........and continued to punish me. So later in the night I had to go really bad and was afraid to call them or I knew they wouldn't get there in time. I took my IV pole and headed into the bathroom. I fell.........the iv pole crashing loudly to the ground along with me. I broke my little toe. Why they didn't hear such a loud event I have no idea. I didn't say anything to them as I think I was scared. they were so mean! I did later tell one of the Drs who I was seeing for a different issue.

I am so sorry birdlady1 about your husband! and so sorry about how they treated you and all of us who go through this........

Had surgery over a year ago and my respiratory therapist didn't want to release me................because my oxygen was so low at rest.......so the nurses just got me up, walked me and said I was ok. I have been sick with my copd since cominghome and sometimes worry about the tube they put down your mouth n lungs if they didnt' poke a hole or something? To find out wouldn't happen as they all protect each other...........

well I have rattled on enough........coujld talk forever about things I know and have heard.............you gotta watch em every minute! LOL

when you look at all the side affects from drugs it doesn't seem worth it to use hem.

The doctors push em at us because they make money for all the prescriptions they write, at least that's what I have heard.

Also they really don't want us better because then we wouldn't
be paying them for office visits every month.

Also the government would rather see us die Earlier so they dont have to pay us social security because they broke the SSI bank.
They are trying to raise the retirement age to 72,
that you die while working and never get SSI.

What you said is so true...............it is scary really. I wonder if they haven't found a cure for cancer? If they did and cured cancer do you realize all the $ that would be lost? Sure they could charge alot for the new medicine but even then they will lose alot of money when cancer is cured.

When I was in the hospital I had no insurance...........and they sent me homr against the respiratory therapists recommendation that I stay.........Had18 inches of my colon removed.........some laproscopy but also the full opened up abdomen. Was only in there for 3 days.........ouch......

ha my daughter who also has no insurance had her gall bladder removed and about a day or two from returning home 2 thugs from the hospital knocked on her door wanting to ask the county for help. Here she is sick and just had surgery and they are pounding at her door.............she ran their butts offf and put up signs. they just need to treat us with respect!! When I had my surgery the woman from the finance dept was sitting by my bed only a few hours later with her clipboard

Well, you all got me going now! So sorry for all the trouble and loss of someone close. Guess I have been lucky so far. I do understand though and always check my meds online before taking. Have twice been prescribed stuff not good for my prostate problems. Had them changed ASAP. Also do not take things that have 900 possible problems from taking them. Have enough trouble already!

My biggest concern right now is the wisdom of the VA of not replacing my lung doc who retired at the American Lake facility. Now they want us all from the SW Washington area to drive clear to Seattle to see one. Since I have back issues as well as lung this is not feasible for me and I am certain many others. Makes you wonder who makes all these decisions and I am certain it is strictly monetary. Would be nice if they would put people first but maybe that is a pipe dream.

That is a very long drive Curt! It seems that it gets worse and worse with time.
My dad had emphysema and lung cancer. If it wasn't for my moms insurance he would not have had health care ........he worked for himself but would not have been able to afford it. He received high honors for saving fellow crewman off a burning ship in the Pacific during World War II and they think maybe something from that, asbestos or something may have caused his lung cancer later in life. he did not have VA benefits. oh he got a nice flag to put on his coffin........

I best not get into this as I get angry at injustice.........but the way they treat our military men makes me sick. It is like well, give us an arm, give us a leg,. maybe even a life.........but don't expect good health benefits.......grrrrr

I have heard of so many bad things concerning the VA I just don't get this country.........even when they try to come out with great programs it is shot down. I......well lol I have said enough. Sorry about what you have to do.........good grief......they should be doing house calls to our service men I say.............

In searching for emphy cure I ran across ozone therapy,
A process in witch some blood is removed treated with oxygen rich ozone then returned into the body.

They claim it can cure emphysema, cancer , aids, HIV, and a host of other illnesses, But because it is cheap as far how it is done
the FDA will not approve it for the claims made. Thus insurance wont cover the treatment.
If you want it done you have to pay for it out of pocket.

I have written many times on this site about DR. Wright and the tahoma clinic and SSKI. I have got one feed back. You can go on line and type in SSKI or Tahoma clinic or Ddr Wright and do a bit of searching for an article on SSKI. I have said had regular lung infection every couple on months and the usual predisone and antibiotics. I have not had one lung infection in 3 yrs.

I don't want to argue with the doctors lately I am all about that.
I saw a few weeks back a new heart doctor....
He told me 200 is ok.....blood pressure....I disagree sited reading on line other doctors would tell you to go to the ER if your blood pressure is over 200...mind was....I have several things now I do before I will go to the ER...
One is check my blood pressure....take nitro, and asprin if I hadn't that day...and now I even calling the nurses line I was given....
I did all of that and was told to go to the ER to be check out.

This new heart doctor I saw said I shold look at the internet....that was my reply...I told him I am on the internet 4 to 6 hours a day now..and I was told to go to the ER....
Well this doctor didn't like my respons which was no surpirze to me...
But he said to look at another web site....you know doctor I told him I know all those places and visted them several times....

He was lost for words....see sometimes the things we know and what they fail to do is look further then their stuck up noses.
In my case I had my Org. heart doctor send reports of my 3 angograms I had....he is only looking at the last one.....
by the last one a year after my first and one wth the stent...says smply this.
normal...it doesn't not go into the same detail as the first one...
they didn't do what they did the first time around....it was too close from the second ango............so they were checking my stent...after I had fail a neutual stress test....
All this man saw was NORMAL.........and yes it was so he base everything I have gong on now on that one tests...
They have not tested even my blood to see what these pills they put me on is doing to my liver or any other part of my body....
So when I tell them I have pain..............they think it's stress or whatever............do they have this right NO way I say.
I saw where he had some of the records on line and I saw what he saw sitting there..........I am sure he hadn't even study any of my records truely.

I think I might just go back the the cover wagon era and use an old medicine book for what I get in help.

As for my COPD.........I like my lung doctor this is hard for me to amit...but he doesn't do any type of testing not at all I been seeing him for 2 years...but I trust him in that I get Predisone and Antibonicts when needed....
And I am doing ok...if I was worse off then I am with my COPD and he was still doing what is happening to me...I would think of change.

I think we have to take charge of our own bodies....don't forget to ask questions even if they don't like it.
if they are bougher like the Neuro doctor who told me after I ask him questions of "what if" etc he said he couldn't see me any more.
so he actually sent falus records to the next doctor I won't go into that right now.
But truth be had.........yes it is bottom line...........always is......
look where they live so what they spent so many years going to school ...I know people that are still going to school do they deserved the more money for that..........should we all go back to school and ask our bosses for more money because of the schooling? maybe
But besure to do doctoring...lol

I never heard of this till you pointed it out.
Maybe down the road I'll give this a shot.
I'm trying to use one thing at a time till I find something that works for me. Right now I'm trying the Glutathione.
But will give this a shot next.

Dr. Google has made us all much more savvy than our Drs. would like! Also remember they call it practicing the 'art' of medicine. I think Dr.s should have to work in conjunction with a pharmacist. They know a lot more about meds than Dr.s. Maybe Dr.s should have to study biochemistry more & take refresher courses too :>))

I must say I have 3 of the greatest Doctors who work closely together in behalf of my care.
I agree that there is room for human error but once you cross that line other things occure and not always for the good. And that is the sad part of the medical profession.
I am one that doesnt like to take medicine and so when ever my Doc's want to try a new medicine I look it up in the PDR or on internet at WebMD to read all about the side effects and interactions of other meds.
Right now my precription meds is 3 daily inhaler and a cholestrol med. I do take over the counter vit E/D and a multi and a magnesium. The lung doc wanted me to try Singlair and it took me 3 months before I tried it, even though I had taken it back some 14 yrs ago. Our body chemistry chagnes over time and what use to work may be different now as I am older.
We all must be proactive and stay on top of our own health care and dont be afraid to stand up and voice your concerns or to ask for second opinions,

Yeh! the internet has certainly helped us to become more informed. However, we need to be careful with this also - there is misinformation so you can't take everything you read at face value. I'm quite a bit more generous to Drs because they know so much more than I - even with the internet. Our expectations could possibly be too high as is true with any profession that we're totally dependent upon. The thought that Drs are trying to kill us really hits a nerve. I can't accept this - unfortunately there are dire consequences to their errors, but there are impressive consequences to their successes. We need to lighten up some and hope and pray we are "victims" of their successes.
