Yes, I have a similar numbness but mine come and goes, mine is followed with pain that feels like hot molten shards of broken glass, I suffer with this every day, it is called nuropathy. I am sorry to hear that you have the early signs of it.

I've not experience that in all my 12 + years living with COPD, perhaps mention this to your doctor in case its something that should be investigated further. Also check the information leaflet that comes with your medications, inhalers and other, its possible it may be a side affect from meds.

I thought i had answered this, so if this shows up twice i'm sorry.
My feet are always numb!
quite a few years ago it started with them numb, which was just annoying.
then it progressed to when I would get up at night it hurt to walk on them (it felt like walking on swollen feet, but mine weren't swollen)
I asked my PCP & she said that I had "Plantars Fasciitis" and to go to the store & buy some of those gell inserts in the foot isle.
OMG! my feet got more & more sore until I could barely walk! It felt like I was walking on hot coals! (much like Giia551 explained)
I went to a Podiatrist & I did have "Plantars Fasciitis".

He made me an expensive pair of inserts for my shoes & also sold me some flip flops & slippers that had good arch support.
He gave me a booklet that he ordered the sandals & slippers so i could look it it & get what i wanted in the future. The company has a site online also; http://www.drcomfort.com
I have found many people that have had this condition. It seems common when a person is on their feet a lot barefoot or in cheap/hard soled sandals.
I also found Spenco shoe inserts that are about $20 for the pair that work for me.

With plantar fasciitis my dr told me that soft was not good, that I needed the support for my arch & that area.
I do not know with nueropathy if you want a soft or firm type of support.
I believe most insurances will cover the cost of seeing a Podiatrist, but not pay for the inserts so It pays to shop around. (My podiatrist was great at helping me find cheaper solutions that would work well)

ps. It is an inflammation & he wanted me to take a course of Prednisone, but I am allergic so I couldn't take that; so i think it took me longer than many to feel better (plus i shouldn't have let it get so bad)
It does pay to shop around & find the best price, but good quality.

I have been doing great for years, but this summer I have been working outdoors a lot & not wearing my inserts in my field boots & I'm starting to feel that numbness & soreness in the night, so i know i need to start wearing the arch supports again as i don't want to get in that horrid pain again.
I may sound pushy, I suggest you get seen asap as this can become tortuous!

My feet ache and get awfully cold. Can't get them warm. Think I have neuropathy but neurologist wasn't any help, did some tests, talked a lot but didn't seem to say anything and did nothing. I can't walk but no doctors will explain why.
