I smoked for 30 years often two packs a day. However I have not had a cigarette for 29 years now. I quit at 50.

I smoked for over 40 years....stopped 13 years ago...I did about 10 to 12 cigs per day......I regret the day I ever started..

I smoked for 45 years, 40-60 cigarettes a day. It has now been 16 months since I stopped. I agree with mchughirene, I regret ever having started and I still to this day crave a cigarette.

For 40 years and 2 packs a day....

I started 40 years ago but not as much as many here. I quite many times during this time, I think it would come out to 15-17 pack years. The last 8 years I have been smoking 3 cigarettes a day. I'm down to one, but can't shake that one for some reason. It seems to me, knowing that I can have that one, keeps me from smoking many a day? My husband smokes and I have cigarettes readily available, not that I'm blaming him, I'm the one putting it in my mouth:(

Quit 8 years ago.

Still an occasional pull to grab someone's ciggie and take a
few puffs myself. Horrible horrible habit.

But for those of you who smoked a lot more-it does not seem to make much difference how much you smoked, they are some genetics involved. Some people smoke very little and get COPd, others smoke 3 packs a day and never get it.

Thirty five years four packs a day, quit cold turkey over 10 years ago.

I smoked a pack a day for 41 years. I quit 102 days ago.

I smoked 32 awful years a pack a day . I quit smoking April 13 2014. I hope and pray that copd becomes famous like cancer or heart disease. I never heard of copd until the doctor said that I have it.

From age 18 to age 28 I smoked anywhere from one to three packs a day. I am 65 now and I still have cravings.

So does anyone get this who has never smoked?
