Just because it is about you personally makes it personal to those of us that have the same problems.
As a matter of fact I am going through the same only lots worse at this time and I am trying everything that I can think of to get the mucus flowing. Besides the meds that the doctors have already put me on. Including an increased mg dosage of Mucinex.
When we get "head colds" it could mean something totally different than to someone who doesn't have COPD. Chest problems happen sometimes with lightning speed. Be very proactive in taking care of it because each infection that we have only weakens the lungs more.
I am far from being panicky at every turn but I have kept myself out of the hospital for almost 6 years by being always aware of what is going on with my lungs and hopefully increased my "staying power" by days, months....whose counting?
So maybe you should keep us informed if there is a change and someone will offer another suggestion to help you.
Me , I am heading for the heating pad for the chest with some hot tea. And my recliner so it is easier to breathe.
Take good care of yourself.
That said..it wasn't to freak you out, but only so you don't doubt yourself. It is important to listen to your gut feeling. I hope you feel better soon! I love Cipro that seems to take care of things quickly...thatand levaquin! I hope you feel better soon!
Hot tea and hot lemon water helps me break up mucuous and my dad likes hot tea and he sits up a bit to keep his lungs elevated. I also like ahot cloth on my face with a few drops of dr. Bronners peppermint soap squeezed out it is so powerful it helps (plus its real peppermint not perfume which is horrible).
Gosh feel better soon! I hope that was helpful! =)
And thanks, I really apreciate your concern. I have had 2 colds in the last 3 years but like most people here probably they usually end up in my chest. Like I mentioned earlier I'm already on ciprofloxacin for some infection my blook work indicated, maybe even this who knows, but it might prevent it going straight into my chest in a bad way.

i figured when you said you got the blood work & what it showed that you had started antibiotics then.
i do hope you continue taking the whole prescription of cipro. it's a good antibiotic for whatever infection (broad spectrum) your blood work is showing.
i'm sure you know that "always take the full round of antibiotics even if you feel better." ---right?
Anyhoo, yes I'll be taking it till the end since the tests show I've an infection in me somewheres. Just that yesterday as I felt I might have had a cold coming on it seemed like a particularly lucky set of circumstances to have had antibiotics already in my system in case it went straight for the chest.
