Ok so much for getting the flu shot....I got the flu shot in Sept.which I do every year......and so now I have the flu......Whats up medical peeps who push for the flu shot ???Grrrrrr

This wasnt a good year because the most common variety of virus circulating was not included in this seasons batch. However, even if the vaccine didnt provide a good match for the particular flu virus you picked-up, it likely helped the body to produce antibodies that reduced the severity, or in other words, your flu might have been far more serious if you hadnt gotten the vaccine.

i had the flu shot in september & got the flu a month or 2 later.
Of course it settled into my lungs & i ended up needing antibiotics.
I hope you feel better soon. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Ty gnott and jarca...I just got off antibiotics a few days ago for a sinus infection and now the flu ..im now on tamiflu....I need all the prayers I can get...ty again....Irene

Hubby & I get our flu shots every year and a super-duper pneumonia shot every 5 yrs,. Touch wood, we haven't had so much as a sniffle for ages. We don't wait till the onset of winter to get our shots because by then the flu bug is already doing it's rounds, so we get them done mid-autumn.
