years ago I was dx'd at fracture stage of osteoporosis.
my dr prescribed me something (i think it was called fosamax)
i don't usually get scared of side effects listed, but this one was one that I decided to decline.
we can't scare ourselves wiith information on medications, but we sure need to be our own best advocates.
I am so sorry that you had a bad reaction dp you really have to keep continueing it or can you stop now?
scary, but I think thise ostoeporosis/bone building meds are all scary when I read us on them.

question; all drugs have side effects & we must make our best decisions from paperwork on it & our Dr prescribing it.
is there anything against posting personal bad (and good) reactions on DS so others get personal opinions of certain medications?
for me, a personal opinion would mean so much more that a bunch of paperwork given as a handout when i fill a prescription.

The medicine is given by shots in the arm..twice a year....so it lasts for six months.........................I dont know if DS rules do not allow posts about meds in here...thats why I wrote about it in my journal and not mention the name of the drug in here....all drugs have side effects for me ,Im a sensitive soul....lol....

I was just commenting on this on another group.....For some strange reason i never seem to suffer any side effects from any meds ive even been on or tried.......I was on Valium for 3 years and was told i'd have a hard time coming off them etc etc but i stopped immediately and nothing happened.....

That's why with the Pred, im not overly considered about what may or may not happen.....my bone density test is perfect for my age, my face would appreciate some mooning and boy, id love an appetite....

i think this support group is for helping us find meds & things that help. that seems to me to be a big part of our disease & if a medication has bad side effects, at least if someone brings it up we can then research if further and form our own opinions.
i like to hear about good & bad treatments; research them & then speak with my dr before making any decisions.
it could save a life IMHO
everybody is different & one med may work wonders for one person and be a nightmare to another.
if we don't post about meds, how can we learn what is out there?

I feel so bad for you Irene. To go through all that and then knowing it will be a while before it is all out of your body. That is really scary. Sending healing thought your way and sending prayers. Hugs....

Update: I went to my doctor today and she said she has no objection.if I dont want to take that medicine again....Nothing can be done about side effects I just have to wait it out.....ty you all for responses...hugs

Wow... I too am so sorry to hear of your terrible experience and hope you recover quickly.

I also think it is helpful to identify drugs that cause these hellish side affects. It seems anymore we hear more and more about drugs that are rushed in getting approved only to then later hear about lawsuits due to harmful side affects. I would think that Dr.'s are updated with concerning side affects on the rise but rather than share this, they tend to hold back ... why else would there be so many lawsuits after the fact. It would be nice if they were more willing to explain these things and if you then feel it is worth the risk, then at least you feel a little more informed.

I'm glad you have quit the med. did your dr say how long the side effects will go on?
