In the early months of your diagnosis, there is so much stress, worry, etc, any thing you want to add to the list. That is a normal feeling for any time your life takes a big swing. So far you are doing everything you should, if you are trying to learn about COPD.
Knowledge is powerful and the more you learn about this disease, the better you are prepared to set up a management program. If you are a proactive type person, you will get past the doom and gloom and learn to live with adjustments that you will make.
The computer can be an excellent tool for you. One thing you will notice is some information may vary from search to search but if you use a reputable site then you will get credible information. You have a doctor that will help you sort out any questions you need to ask.
The first time I saw a pulmonologist after being diagnosed, I went with a list of questions, he took the sheet and started right down the list and wrote the answers on the sheet as we discussed them!
There is research going on as I write that may change our position tomorrow, or the next or the next. We all live with realistic hope but depend on how we control our daily life.
I personally feel that each day is a gift and I should use it as such. I felt the same way before I was diagnosed.
Thee are people in the forum that will help as much with their experience as they possibly can. There is so much valuable experience here.
As Robert Frost said "The woods are lovely, dark and deep but I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep".
we all have lots of promises to keep so that is why there is optimism here among the people.
The very best to you.
The main message board is a support forum of people with copd. I've gotten a lot of good information there.
