My normal is 1 1/2 - 2 LPM , (I raise it to 2, to go to the bathroom, or walk to the kitchen) and when I was in rehab, they raised mine to 3LPM during exercise.
If your pulmonry doctor hs doubts, I would talk with him, and let him test you or something. He is the lung expert, not the rehab folks.
Yes, they do make concentrators, or have conservators that go that high. One man in my transpslant class, that was immediatly put on the list, was on 5 lpm and another was on 15 lpm. That person was the first to be transplanted, .
So while it may not be un heard of, work with your doctor and find out for sure if this is what you need.

are you sure that the rehab person isn't forgetting to put a decimal point in there?
i do 2 LPM, but when i was excercising i would have to go up to 2.5 or 3LPM
how many LPM are you on not excercising?
i do hope they working you up slowly also! i started out only being able to do 1 minute 1 machine & worked up from there until i was able to do 20 minutes on 1 machine & 20 minutes on the treadmill.
do be careful! and i am glad you are talking about this with your pulmonologist!
