hi all,

I just started a nose bleed in my left nostril. Is this from a strong mix of O2 from my concentrator. I've been on O2 for quite sometime now, which is not a normal daily routine for me.

I have moved from the Virgin Islands to cold, very dry New Hampshire.

As always, any input is greatly appreciated.

I have sinus problems that happens to me a lot. Ask the Doc for some nose spray or get some Saline spray from Wally World.

O2 and the dry air in the house in cold weather dry out nasal tissue which can cause nose bleeds.

To prevent it, I use a humidifier bottle on my oxygen reservoir and Ayr saline nasal gel. I get Ayr at walmart.

I also use room humidifiers in the winter.

Old fashioned techniques to raise the humidity in a house:

1. Keep the bathtubs filled with water.
2. Simmer a big pot of water on the stove every day.

No doubt humidifiers work better, but I remember my grandmother doing these.

I agree with what all the others said. I have been on O2 for 4 years and my sinus conjestion gets worse in dry weather. Pulmy said use humidifier and spray to keep sinuses from drying out and get infected. Nose bleeds just an indiction sinus membranes are irritated. (Unless it is gushing out or something).
You can also get your doctor to check your sinuses , and he will probably say those that use O2 get more sinus dryness than normal folks.
One time I used my nettie pot I had a lot of blood come out as well as the other stuff. Usually it is just the other stuff. Went to doctor and was told sinuses very dried and irritated.
Saline spray, ayr nasal gel for dryness around the nostrils, and humidifiers are your best bet.

The change of location I think has a lot to do with nose bleed.

It could be your oxygen drying out your sinuses; or a change in elevation. I use a saline solution that my Pulmonary Doctor told me about. Good luck.

even tho i live in a desert environment, when i have gone back to california to mojave desert to visit i've had same problem not being used to "that dry" any more.
i had to run a humidifier & the nose bleeds quit after about 3 days to a week (takes it a bit)
with your recent move it can't hurt to try a humidifier.
if the nose bleeds get worse or troublesome i would definitely see your dr.
(by the way, that would explain your stuffed up nose also)
