I have been member some time, this is my first message. I find this support group very informative and it is a pleasure to read how carering You are!
As I am not so good in english, I am not sure how much I can take part of discussions but will follow You every day.
I am 70 years old, living in north of Sweden, alone with my cat. I have a little house near a lake. I have been diagnosed severe COPD, have ca 40 % of lung function left, have only beta2 agonist Oxis as medicin, will wait before starting with cortisone.I have a long smoking history but stopped eight years ago.

Hi Marja, Welcome to this family which has helped me so much. I am 75 and live alone with my cat too . The best thing I did was quit smoking several years ago and I'm glad you did too. There are enough other health nuisances lurking around and happy not to have that one any longer. I actually had more bronchitis attacks when I was smoking than I have since I quit, despite the onset of COPD.

Your English is fine and easy to understand. I'm glad you are here!

Hello Marja, I am glad you found us, but sad you had to...This disease is worldwide, and it is good to find a group that you can relate to and chat with, ask questions, complain, what ever you feel like doing.
Your English seems to be ok to me. Tell us more about yourself, and your cat, we would love to get to know you better...

Marjaliisa, I too quit smoking 8 years ago & as much as I smoked back then (at least 4 packs a day), I'm lucking not to be in worse shape than I am. We're also the same age. No cat here but 4 dogs I rescued. Best of luck to you.

As my doctor dont tell me so much abt COPD it is very important for me to listen how You are working to manage COPD. I understand that we all are not in same situation but can learn about medicines and also about need and use of oxygen. I have also found a lot of useful links to get more information from you, so many thanks. I think I am not the only one who is following this forum and having good advices and feeling warmth.
