ii read a thing that we are "too clean" in america, with our antibacterial soaps & stuff that we aren't building natural immunities to things any more.

Do not be afraid to speak up if a nurse waltzes in your room and starts checking your body for something, to ask her to sanitize her hands first, before she touches you. Most will smile and say thanks for the reminder, some will look at you like you are nuts, but will do it because they know they are suppose to.
Hospitals are horrible, and here are some things they never sanitize between patients,,,the blood pressure cuff, stethascope, o2 meter, and the like. Some are getting better at this, some are not.
